Ahead of parliamentary elections widely expected to deliver gains to the hard right, European leaders can barely conceal their anxiety. What is power in contemporary Europe, and how should it be exercised by the European Union? Cricket is an Olympic sport again. Five sports were finally added to the 2028 Los Angeles Games by the International Olympic Committee on Monday with baseball-softball, lacrosse and squash also confirmed for the program. All five were voted in as a single package with two “no” votes from about 90 IOC members in the room. “We want L.A. 2028 to have the same springboard effect for our five sports,” Los Angeles organizing committee chairman Casey Wasserman told IOC members. Football in its full-contact form was a demonstration sport at the 1932 Olympics when Los Angeles first hosted the Summer Games.

Lamb joined Italy's preliminary panel before the World Cup, and did enough to impress coach Kieran Crowley to make the official squad. After winning their opening two games in France, spirits are high in the Italian camp ahead of Friday's match against New Zealand, as Lamb told Reuters in an interview. In France he followed that up with another try in his first World Cup game in Italy's win over Namibia. With his family now coming to France to watch the next two games, Dino Lamb will proudly head into battle. Italy take on New Zealand on Friday in Lyon and their final Pool A game with France is on Oct.6.

The report published earlier this month documented a total of 2,405 subsidiaries owned by 1,404 EU and G-7 companies that were active in Russia at the time of the first military incursion into Ukraine. Of the EU and G-7 companies remaining in Russia, the research found that 19.5% were German, 12.4% were American owned, and 7% were Japanese multinationals. Various companies told Barclays that there were a host of challenges to fully divest.
