At the Democratic National Convention, there has been no shortage of eye-grabbing content. Manicure stations where attendees can have their nails painted blue, with the option to add a “KH” adornment. An abundance of pearls, stars and pantsuits (all signifiers of Vice President Kamala Harris’s style). Mr. Nordeman, a photographer for The New York Times Styles desk, has spent his days in Chicago “walking and looking,” as he put it, until something grabs his attention. “I have an idea of what I’m looking for, but I never know exactly what it is until I see it,” he said.

Claudette Johnson, a Black British visual artist who is experiencing a late-career renaissance, and Jasleen Kaur, an artist whose installations have explored her upbringing in a Scottish Sikh community, are among the nominees for this year’s Turner Prize, the prestigious British art award. The four-person shortlist was announced on Wednesday at a news conference at the Tate Britain art museum in London. Each artist is nominated for an exhibition held in the past 12 months, and Tate Britain will host a group show of their work from Sept. 25 to Feb. 16, 2025. Johnson, 65, whose portraits of Black women and men in pastels and watercolor are held in the collections of Tate and the Baltimore Museum of Art, is the highest-profile artist shortlisted. Her career began in the 1980s as a member of the Blk Art Group, a British collective, but she stopped exhibiting for decades while she raised two children.

Tusk told BI that Last Brand has "continuously expanded their product line smack dab into our backyard." According to Gupta, the founders renamed the brand Quince in 2020 upon its official launch to play on the word quintessential, a reference to the brand selling premium essentials. "Off the record, we were eating at a sister restaurant to a three-Michelin-starred restaurant named Quince in SF, and we really loved the name," Gupta said. For now, the restaurant Quince will continue to deal with confused customers. "I know that we're outmatched and all that, but it kind of left us no choice," Tusk told BI.

What is folk music, though? I like the expansive non-definition proposed by the singer-songwriter and guitarist Big Bill Broonzy, as quoted by Bradley: “Some people call these ‘folk songs,’” he said onstage once. “Well, all the songs that I’ve heard in my life was folk songs. It also features some Black folk pioneers who inspired future generations, like Odetta and Tracy Chapman. May it open your ears and expand your conception of what folk is, and what it can be.

At the same time, others are also having their own Valentine’s Day celebrations: Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) meets a new love interest in Amelia (Miriam Shor). Nya (Karen Pittman) embraces her single-dom, and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) lands herself in the emergency room after a bad run-in with pot brownies. Ahead of Episode 7, members of The New York Times Styles desk chatted about the dresses, slippers and love letters to New York on display in the latest installment of the series.

Marc Andreessen, speaking on a panel with Peter Thiel, backed a Zuckerberg-Musk cage fight. Andreessen and Thiel also said, unrelated, that attendees should homeschool their kids. Billionaire investor Marc Andreessen is apparently rooting for Tesla's Elon Musk and Meta's Mark Zuckerberg to square off in a cage match. He and PayPal cofounder Peter Thiel also urged the event's attendees to homeschool their children, Puck reported. Representatives for both Andreessen and Thiel did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

Suddenly, in the midst of discussing what Cohen should wear to the next LoveShackFancy store opening, there was the sound of glass clanging. (Another person confirmed hearing this exchange, though the person close to the company said multiple Zoom attendees did not recall it.) The person close to the company said, "It is not uncommon for trips to have dual purposes — they always generate content." Another time, during a visit to the Palm Beach store, Cohen freaked out after seeing staffers in sweatshirts and sneakers. "As with most contemporary fashion brands, we currently do not operate in the plus-size business," the person close to LoveShackFancy said.
