Winder, Georgia CNN —Colin Gray, the father of alleged Georgia school shooter Colt Gray, entered a not guilty plea Thursday morning to charges – including two counts of second-degree murder – alleging that he shares responsibility for the September shooting. Gray faces 29 charges, including two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of involuntary manslaughter. He was indicted on 55 counts, including four counts each of malice murder and felony murder. Colt Gray will be tried as an adult. Colin and Colt Gray have both been jailed since their arrests.

As a new school year begins, I reminisce about unwrapping fresh school supplies and reuniting with friends after a summer apart. It's my biggest regret from college: I don't wish I worked harder or studied more — I wish I cared less about my GPA. The sacrifices I made to get near-perfect grades seemed worth it when I graduated from Northwestern with honors in 2019. And if you're planning on getting a postgraduate degree, like going to law or medical school, your GPA will be an integral part of your admission decision. Those, I believe, will do more for your career prospects than a 4.0 ever could.

CNN —A beloved Florida high school football player died after he collapsed during a game Friday night, school officials say, bringing the number of recent known deaths among high school athletes to seven. Alabama teen Semaj Wilkins died August 13 after a medical emergency during football practice at New Brockton High School, according to CNN affiliate WDHN. His smile radiatedGainer scored two touchdowns on the night of his death, Norton said, leading the team to victory. The high school there has about 500 students and is very close knit. Gainer had recently visited Vanderbilt University in Nashville, where he had hoped to play football, according to Norton.

“We’re concerned with any tobacco product use among kids, and that includes nicotine pouches. And of those who use nicotine pouches, more than 1 in 5 say they use them every day. These flavors and targeted marketing are among the many factors that influence youth tobacco product use, CDC’s Kittner said at the briefing. “The continued decline in e-cigarette use among our nation’s youth is a monumental public health win,” King said in a statement. But we can’t rest on our laurels, as there’s still more work to do to further reduce youth e-cigarette use.”CNN’s Jacqueline Howard and Jen Christensen contributed to this report.
