A Nazi Villa So Tainted Berlin Can’t Give It Away
  + stars: | 2024-08-12 | by ( Sarah Maslin Nir | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
Behind thickets of beech trees, overgrown with nettles and beside a blue lake an hour north of Berlin, a villa that once belonged to a Nazi mastermind quietly rots. No one knows what to do with the estate beside the Bogensee lake in Brandenburg. It was built for Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi propaganda minister, by his grateful country just before the start of World War II. Too burdensome for the state to continue carrying, prohibitively expensive for most real estate prospectors and tainted by history, Berlin has given up on selling or developing it. Instead, it has offered to give the Nazi mansion away, free.

Theo Whiteman / HBOMain parties: The Triarchy vs. Corlys Velaryon's fleet supported by Jacaerys Velaryon, Hugh Hammer, Nettles, Addam of Hull, Ulf White, and their dragons. The Triarchy is an alliance of cities from Essos that's constantly warring with Westeros and Corlys Velaryon, the Blacks' sea commander, over a chain of islands known as the Stepstones. While on their way to fight the Blacks, the Triarchy captures a ship containing Rhaenyra's children, Prince Aegon the Younger and Prince Viserys. Aegon the Younger escapes on the dragon Stormcloud and warns the Blacks. In addition, the Triarchy hit Jacaerys' dragon Vermax with a grapnel, causing the dragon to fall.

"House of the Dragon" threw one new fascinating character in its season two finale that will have great importance down the line — Triarchy Admiral Lohar. But to do so, he has to win the respect of Admiral Lohar, the commander of the Triarchy fleet. Toward the end of the episode, Lohar and Tyland sail together with the Triarchy fleet, presumably bound for the Velaryon blockade. Eventually, a captain from Tyrosh captures him — but it's Fleet Admiral Sharako Lohar who claims him as a prisoner. In addition to attacking the Velaryon fleet, the Triarchy forces also made land on Driftmark, attacking a town called Spicetown.

The Chinese and Western-made technology will operate simultaneously until Pine Belt can completely rid its cell towers of ZTE equipment. Pine Belt is about 15 percent into its transition away from Chinese equipment and is already $5 million over the F.C.C.’s budget, Mr. Nettles said. The tower will have to hold the old ZTE and new Nokia equipment during the rip-and-replace work to prevent any service interruptions. As Mr. Nettles parked near the tower, a customer in Selma called to complain that his cell service was cutting in and out. The customer was between one tower with ZTE equipment and another with Nokia equipment.
