CNN —Four instructors from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, were injured in a “serious incident” while visiting a park in China on Monday, according to a statement from the school. The instructors were in China teaching as part of a partnership with a local university and had been accompanied to the public park by a faculty member of that partner institution, Cornell College President Jonathan Brand said in a statement to the college community. Brand did not name the partner institution in his statement, but school spokesperson Jen Visser confirmed the incident happened in Jilin City. He has a nickname for Senator Tim Scott: Senator Judas. (Ms. Haley appointed Mr. Scott to the Senate in 2012 when she was governor of South Carolina, and Mr. Scott is now a key surrogate in their home state for Mr. In the early months of his mother’s campaign, Mr. Haley was relatively neutral, largely re-sharing posts from or positive commentary about the Haley campaign. But Mr. Haley, a senior at Villanova University, has been game to engage, hitting back at her rivals on social media platforms with memes and quips. In Gilbert, he recalled how Ms. Haley, during her run for governor, used to offer him and his sister a quarter for every hand they shook.

Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, who for years faced speculation about his marital status, on Saturday proposed to Mindy Noce, his girlfriend and an interior designer who lives in Charleston. It’s been a whirlwind few days for Mr. Scott, whose endorsement of former President Donald J. Trump at a New Hampshire rally on Friday renewed talk about his consideration as a running mate, should Mr. Trump win the Republican nomination. Mr. Scott made his relationship with Ms. Noce public when he brought her onstage after a Republican presidential primary debate — the last he would participate in before suspending his campaign in November. A spokesman for Mr. Scott, Nathan Brand, confirmed the engagement, which took place on Kiawah Island, S.C., near Charleston. Mr. Scott and Ms. Noce had a celebratory dinner afterward and Ms. Noce attended church the following morning, wearing her engagement ring.

Sen. Tim Scott's presidential campaign, once seen as emerging force, has faltered in recent weeks. Scott has sought to offer an optimistic message to voters, but Trump remains on top in the GOP race. The rise of fellow South Carolinian Nikki Haley has also complicated Scott's path to the nomination. Over the course of Scott's campaign, his campaign has so far focused heavily on winning the Iowa caucuses, and during the summer he was seemingly clipping at Florida Gov. A leading Scott backer, who spoke to Politico anonymously, remarked that the senator's campaign team "fundamentally miscalculated what it means to run for president and generate news coverage."

Ron DeSantis for the first time on whether he would support a 15-week federal abortion ban. “Yes, I will,” DeSantis replied to Scott in a moment lost in the crosstalk that engulfed the messy Republican primary debate. DeSantis instead has campaigned on the six-week abortion ban he signed in Florida earlier this year while suggesting other states may have different approaches based on their political environments. In 2022, DeSantis signed a 15-week abortion ban that did not include exceptions for rape and incest. Just before launching a campaign for president, DeSantis – in the middle of the night and behind closed doors – signed a law to ban abortion in Florida after six weeks with limited exceptions for rape and incest.

On Tuesday, for example, Fox News host Sean Hannity said Republicans “have been unwilling for whatever reason” to vote early and by mail. Ahead of the general election, registered Democrats held an 8-point edge over registered Republicans in Georgia in early voting. Now about to enter his seventh term, Schweikert said that Republicans in his state used to enjoy a robust early voting edge. Kirk, who had raised concerns about mail-in voting, changed his tune after the November midterms, tweeting that Republicans must recognize the “power of early voting.” But Johnson has called for a ban on mail-in voting. At the forefront of GOP concerns over early voting is Pennsylvania, where Democrats enjoyed an edge so substantial that Republicans did not come close to overcoming it.
“What we do need is our voters need to vote early,” McDaniel, a longtime Trump ally, said during a televised interview on Fox News. McDaniel said the RNC has "perfected" the practice in states where it's legal before making her broader point about taking advantage of early and mail-in voting. He continues to raise false and unsubstantiated claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him, in part through vote-by-mail programs in battleground states. Early voting there has shattered records, suggesting an edge for Warnock. Trump, who handpicked McDaniel as RNC chair after the 2016 election, has not weighed in on the upcoming race.
A Gen Z-led company tapped TikTok influencers in November to persuade young people to vote. "I think the people that cracked the youth voter turnout code are the youth," said Narayanan, whose staff is mostly Gen Z. President Joe Biden, who also courted TikTok influencers, especially thanked young people for the election results. Social Currant worked with nearly 300 creators in the last two months to produce more than 500 pieces of content, he said. Rapper Ryze Hendricks, who has 6.3 million TikTok followers, delivered his message in rhyme: "I got a message for the youth.

REUTERS/Tasos Katopodis/PoolWILMINGTON, Del., Oct 29 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden cast an early vote in the crucial Nov. 8 midterm elections on Saturday, joined by his granddaughter Natalie, a first-time voter, and said he would visit more states in coming days to help Democrats fight for every possible vote. "I'm feeling good," Biden told reporters after voting and speaking briefly with an elderly woman in a wheelchair. It's a choice, a fundamental choice," Biden said. "Millions of Americans are casting their ballots against Biden and Democrats' reckless agenda of crime, rising prices, and open borders," he said.
NBC News found that nine Democratic candidates in this year’s 35 Senate races are posting to TikTok, while three Republican Senate candidates are using it. In the most competitive Senate races, four of the Democrats are using TikTok: Sen. Raphael Warnock in Georgia, former state Chief Justice Cheri Beasley in North Carolina, Lt. Gov. The only Republican in a competitive Senate race using TikTok is Oz, who began posting there in 2019 before he left his television show for politics. “TikTok does have such widespread use,” Madison Horn, the Democratic nominee for one of two Senate races in Oklahoma, said in a phone interview. Bob Ellsworth, a Republican advertising consultant, said TikTok has certainly changed how Republicans campaign even if they’re not on the app itself.
