In February, the NHL will host its first-ever 4 Nations Face-Off, an international event where league players from Canada, Sweden, Finland and the U.S. will play for their native countries. In 2026, NHL players are planning to participate in the Olympics for the first time since 2014. I tried to make it work, but I never really felt fulfilled, and I couldn't pinpoint why. At first, that was what slow living was for me—rearranging my days and my life to physically slow down. I started doing YouTube more and my 9-to-5 less until I was able to become a full-time YouTuber. Even though we are now living in the city, I plan to always live a slow living lifestyle. Over time, slow living has transitioned into a whole mindset for me.

Liam Payne's One Direction bandmates are "completely devastated" by his death, they said in a statement on the boy band's Instagram account Thursday, one day after Payne's death at an Argentina hotel. Sistema de Atencion Medica de Emergencia (SAME), the emergency health service, said that Payne fell from the balcony in Palermo. Police were called to the hotel for reports of an aggressive man, according to the emergency services agency, which later confirmed Payne's death. The office added that the autopsy findings indicate Payne "could have fallen in a state of semi or total unconsciousness." A number of substances were found in Payne's hotel room, the prosecutor's office said in a statement, which would prove alcohol and drug consumption.

Shares of Swedish telecom firm Ericsson jumped amid third-quarter core earnings that surpassed analyst expectations and growth in North American demand. Net sales shed 4% year-on-year to 61.8 billion Swedish crowns in the third quarter, but nevertheless surpassed analyst expectations of near 61.6 billion, according to Reuters estimates. North America emerged as a bright spot in the sales picture, with year-on-year growth of more than 50%. "North America was the first to roll out 5G, and of course they were also the first to therefore slow down the pace. The North American growth offset steep third-quarter sales declines in both north east and south east Asia, where telecommunication companies have recently been focusing on developing markets such as India.

In a Wednesday interview with CNBC's Jim Cramer, T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert said his company was seeing more sales of the iPhone 16 than last year's series of the smartphones. "Not only good, but better than last year, and people are buying Pros, they're buying Maxs, so they're buying up the food chain, and they're buying at a greater rate than last year." Apple is set to release the iPhone16 in stores on Friday, widely touted for its new artificial intelligence capabilities. But according to Sievert, the iPhone16 is in demand, although the delay may lengthen the buying cycle. Sievert also reviewed announcements the company made at a conference it held on Wednesday.

Behind the scenes, 5G infrastructure is powering live broadcasts worldwide and the moments spectators and athletes capture and post on social media. After the event, it became a hub for YouTubers and other content creators because of its gigabit-speed internet connectivity. In the lead-up to the Games, connectivity infrastructure was embedded in the London Underground light-rail network and the Westfield shopping center in Stratford. 5G technology wasn't adopted at a consumer level until 2019, and Japan's 5G-infrastructure rollout was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, the 5G technology was fast enough that train riders could watch the opening ceremony on their personal devices.

Read previewWhen Satya Nadella took over as CEO of Microsoft in 2014, he was on a mission to transform the company's culture. A decade later, it's clear that Nadella followed his own counsel as he seeks to establish Microsoft as a dominant force in AI. So, by 2016, Microsoft ditched its mobile business and sold the Nokia phone line to follow Nadella's new vision for the company. This cemented Nadella's vision to build up its open-source software offering, solidifying Nadella's vision to boost Microsoft's open-source software offerings. CFO Amy Hood said on Tuesday that Microsoft's AI bets will be monetized "over 15 years and beyond."

(Photo by Xavi Torrent/Getty Images)Shares of Finnish telecom firm Nokia tumbled on Thursday after the company reported a 32% drop in second-quarter operating profit on the back of weak demand for its 5G equipment. Earlier in the day, Nokia said its comparable operating profit declined to 423 million euros ($462 million) in the second quarter, down by nearly a third from the 619 million euros posted in the same period of last year. Citing "ongoing market weakness," the company said net sales also eased by 18% to 4.47 billion euros – the lowest level achieved since the fourth quarter of 2015, according to LSEG data. The landscape likewise remains "challenging as operators continue to be cautious" in the mobile networks sector, he warned.
