Here are five NBA rookie storylines to watch in 2024-25. Zach Edey, center, Memphis GrizzliesThe first thing you will notice about Canadian rookie Zach Edey is his formidable size, measuring in at 7-foot-4-inches and 305 pounds. Jared McCain, guard, Philadelphia 76ersOne of the highest profile rookies entering the league this season, former Duke guard Jared McCain has become a social media sensation due to his larger-than-life personality. Bronny James, guard, Los Angeles LakersBronny James comes into the NBA as one of the most scrutinized second round picks of all time. This is because his father is four-time MVP and NBA champion LeBron James, as well as the league’s all-time leading scorer.

CNN —After an outstanding season in which she undoubtedly exceeded lofty expectations following a historic career at the University of Iowa, Caitlin Clark was named the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year in a near-unanimous vote. She became the WNBA single-season assists record holder (337), an accomplishment which included a league-record 19 assists in one game. Her 8.4 assists per game average is also a WNBA record. Clark also became the first rookie to record a triple-double and holds the record for most three-pointers made (122) by a rookie in league history. Iowa's Caitlin Clark (No.

He’s going to be a killer rebounder, monster screener and will consistently establish his position even against some of the stronger NBA players. I’m done doubting Edey, even as an NBA player. As an enormous ballhandler with serious touch and incredible vision as a passer, Topić is clearly an NBA player, even if it doesn’t all translate. Shannon is an elite athlete, but the NBA game requires more nuance, especially if he continues to be an inconsistent shooter. However, I also think he’s more than just a floor spacer on offense in spot-up situations and potentially as an off-ball scorer.

Jaylen Brown posted a game-high 29 points along with six rebounds, three steals and four 3-pointers to lead the Celtics. Game 1 of the NBA Finals will be played in Boston on June 6 against either the Dallas Mavericks or Minnesota Timberwolves. Celtics execute down the stretchThe longstanding question about the Celtics has been: How they will execute at the end of close games? The Pacers elevated their game in every way after losing Haliburton, forcing Boston to hone its end game execution and defensive effort. Down 3-0 in the series without Haliburton, the game could have easily turned into a blowout and the Celtics could have cruised to the NBA Finals.

CNN —The Los Angeles Lakers produced their highest scoring night in 37 years on Monday, outlasting the Indiana Pacers 150-145 in a clash between two potent offenses. The Lakers, led by the superstar duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, had four players score at least 25 points in what was the team’s highest scoring game of the season. Indiana held a six-point lead after the first quarter before a scoring explosion from LA saw the team put up 86 points across the second and third quarters alone. “We played (the Pacers) in the (In-Season Tournament) championship, and we know how high-powered an offense they are,” said James. We don’t need to give them life, but at this point in the season, a win is a win.
