CNN —As US President-elect Donald Trump continues to make heads turn with nominations for key roles in his incoming administration, Russians are trying to understand the appointments and what impacts they might have for Moscow. Waltz also described Russia as “a gas station with nukes” in an interview with NPR on November 4. Asked about how they viewed the incoming administration and future relations between old adversaries, people were a little more divided. “Trump said that ‘I will do everything for America’, but he did not say a word about Russia,” Sergey told CNN. But I hope, that there will be a good agreement between Russia and Ukraine.

Philadelphia CNN —Tech billionaire and Trump ally Elon Musk is trying to move a lawsuit over his $1 million giveaway to voters into federal court, short-circuiting a required appearance Thursday at a Pennsylvania court. Foglietta said he’s available later Thursday or Friday if the federal judge sends the case back to state court. Musk endorsed Trump in July and has donated $118 million to his super PAC.

Musk gave $14.95 million to the super PAC in July, $30 million in August and $30 million in September, according to the filing. The filing says he was the super PAC’s only donor during that period, although in June the super PAC disclosed several donations from associates of Musk, including five donations for $1 million apiece. New York CNN —Former President Donald Trump’s campaign connected with Elon Musk’s X last month to discuss hacked Trump campaign materials circulating on the social media platform before X blocked links to the files and banned the independent journalist who published the materials, a person familiar with the matter told CNN. A person familiar with the matter told CNN on Friday that the Trump campaign had a conversation with X officials about the hacked materials before Klippenstein was banned and links to his newsletter were blocked. The person said the campaign did not push X officials to remove links to the materials and that X had made the decision. The New York Times first reported the Trump campaign’s correspondence with X officials in an article on Musk “going all in” to elect Trump. In July, Politico flagged that its reporters had received emails from an individual offering a similar trove of private documents from inside the Trump campaign.

Josh Shapiro confirmed to NBC News on Wednesday that he spoke with tech mogul Elon Musk on Sunday — but said politics never came up. NBC News reported Tuesday that Musk called Shapiro while he was at the Pittsburgh Steelers-Dallas Cowboys game in Pittsburgh over the weekend. Shapiro acknowledged the political rift between him and Musk, saying, “We obviously didn’t talk about politics” on Sunday’s call. Musk himself is set to campaign in the state on behalf of Trump, a fact Trump highlighted at a rally Wednesday in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where he called Musk “fantastic.”“He’s going to do a lot. New York CNN —The Securities and Exchange Commission intends to seek sanctions against Elon Musk over his failure to appear for testimony in an investigation related to his takeover of Twitter, now called X, the regulator said in a court filing Friday. Earlier this year, a federal judge ordered Musk to testify as part of the SEC’s probe of the billionaire’s $44 billion acquisition. The agency is examining whether Musk followed the law when disclosing his purchases of Twitter stock and whether his statements in relation to the deal were misleading. The SEC asked the court to impose “meaningful conditional relief” if Musk does not appear at the new October testimony date. The SEC also said it intends to file a sanctions motion against Musk to recoup its travel costs for the cancelled testimony and for other relief.

The complaint, filed in San Francisco County Superior Court, alleges fraud, breach of contract and misappropriation of Lemon’s name and likeness. Musk and X enticed Lemon with “false promises and representations,” the complaint alleges. Vivian Jenna Wilson, the transgender daughter of Elon Musk, said this week that her father had been “uncaring” and behaved in a “cruel” manner toward her as a child over her being queer and feminine. In an exclusive interview with NBC News on Thursday, Ms. Wilson, 20, called Mr. Musk “cold,” “very quick to anger” and “narcissistic.” She described him as an absent father who, according to NBC, would “harass her for exhibiting feminine traits and pressure her to appear more masculine, including by pushing her to deepen her voice as early as elementary school.”Ms. Wilson’s interview came in response to remarks Mr. Musk made earlier this week about her transgender identity. In an interview on Monday with the Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson that was streamed live on X, Mr. Musk used Ms. Wilson’s birth name, which is known as deadnaming, and said that she was “dead, killed by the woke mind virus.” Mr. Musk also said that he had been “tricked” into authorizing gender-affirming care for her. He later doubled down on his claims about Ms. Wilson on X, saying that she was “born gay and slightly autistic” but that she “was not a girl.”

New York CNN —Vivian Jenna Wilson, Elon Musk’s estranged daughter, publicly refuted several recent anti-trans statements her Tesla CEO and X owner father has made about her. After her transition, the billionaire said, he “vowed to destroy the woke mind virus.”Musk has previously been criticized for his anti-trans comments. Musk has previously spoken about his daughter, including in the authorized biography written by journalist Walter Isaacson and published last year. In the book, the billionaire blamed his daughter’s transition in part on her time at a progressive, Los Angeles school. In the Peterson interview, Musk said he considers his child “dead” following her transition.

New York CNN —At first glance Elon Musk and Donald Trump wouldn’t seem to be natural allies. Musk has given money to candidates from both parties in the past, including $5,000 to Barack Obama in April of 2011. Musk quit two White House business councils he served on early in 2017 after Trump announced America would withdraw from Paris climate accord. But for the last several years Musk has repeatedly shown support for Trump – or opposition to President Joe Biden. Musk recently tweeted the EV subsidies passed under Biden actually helped its rivals more than Tesla.

The reason for that is mostly the American consumer, with spending accounting for about 70% of gross domestic product. On Thursday, Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan said that his customers are slowing down the rate of their purchases. Consumer payments, as measured through credit cards, checks and ATM withdrawals, have grown by 3.5% since last year, he said. New York CNN —Two influential advisory firms have urged shareholders to vote against Elon Musk’s contentious $51 billion pay package and raised concerns about the CEO’s numerous side projects. On Friday, Institutional Shareholder Services called the package “excessive” and noted that shareholder concerns “have not been sufficiently mitigated” since the package was first approved in 2018. The move to Texas, where Musk also operates SpaceX, was proposed shortly after a Delaware Chancery Court judge sided with Tesla shareholders who challenged the legality of the 2018 pay package. Those shareholders also argued that the directors on Tesla’s board were not truly independent and were too close to Musk to protect shareholders’ interests. The board is putting the same 2018 package up for a revote at Tesla’s annual shareholder meeting on June 13.

Ehrenpreis is also a close friend to Kimbal Musk, Elon’s brother, who is also a Tesla board member. In another instance, the judge emphasized the role of Tesla’s general counsel Todd Maron — who was previously Musk’s divorce lawyer — in advising Tesla’s board and compensation committee. Maron was “totally beholden to Musk,” McCormick wrote in her ruling last week, adding that Maron’s admiration for Musk “moved him to tears” during both his deposition and in trial testimony. Maron’s team prepared “an aggressive timeline for approving a compensation plan,” McCormick wrote in her more than 200-page ruling. The break-neck speed of the process “reflected a reckless approach to a fiduciary process.”Robyn Denholm, the Tesla board chair, doesn’t appear to have had any personal relationship with Musk outside of her service on the board, McCormick wrote.

Elon Musk, the chief executive of Tesla, suffered a stunning rebuke Tuesday when a Delaware judge voided the pay package that helped make him a billionaire many times over and the world’s wealthiest human being. In a decision that cast a harsh light on the behavior of Mr. Musk and Tesla’s board of directors, Chancellor Kathaleen St. J. McCormick of the Delaware Court of Chancery said the chief executive had effectively overseen his own compensation plan with the help of compliant board members. “The process leading to the approval of Musk’s compensation plan was deeply flawed,” the judge said. She ordered that the contract that gave Mr. Musk “the largest potential compensation plan in the history of public markets” be voided, and told parties in the case to work out how Mr. Musk would return excess pay. Some compensation experts said the decision would send a warning to other companies that awarded their top executives very large pay packages.

The Consequences of Elon Musk’s Ownership of XNow rebranded as X, the site has experienced a surge in racist, antisemitic and other hateful speech. Research conducted in part by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue concluded that anti-Semitic tweets in English more than doubled after Mr. Musk’s takeover. Keeping X at the center of public debate is exactly Mr. Musk’s goal, which he describes at times with a messianic zeal. Even worse, the article argued, Mr. Musk’s changes appear to be boosting the engagements of the most contentious users. However, the delays affected the sites for rival platforms, as well as news outlets that Twitter owner Elon Musk has previously criticized. When Musk bought Twitter late last year, he laid out a vision for an “everything” app called X, where users could communicate, shop, consume entertainment and more. Musk — who bought Twitter with a company called X Corp. — tweeted on Sunday that X.com now redirects to Twitter. Musk even told followers that tweets should instead be called “x’s.”On Sunday, CEO Linda Yaccarino seemed to confirm Musk’s vision for the company. Elon Musk has officially rebranded Twitter as "X," as he seeks to turn the platform into an "everything" app. And until Musk rolls out significant changes to the platform, observers of the company say ditching Twitter’s well-known brand is a risky move.
