Aiming to unseat three-term Democratic incumbent Jon Tester, Sheehy is founder of Montana-based Bridger Aerospace, an aerial firefighting company. On July 1, Sheehy resigned as chief executive of Bridger to focus on his Senate campaign; the company is seeking a replacement. In mid-June, an editorial in The Wall Street Journal echoed Griffin’s view, branding Sheehy’s company Bridger a success. The PAC spent $5.3 million for Sheehy and $5.7 million against his opponent, Tester, records show. In 2022, Sheehy’s cash and stock compensation neared $5 million, and last year, he received $2.5 million, Bridger’s proxy says.

I gave birth to my first child — a daughter — in New York City in April of 2020, just after the start of the pandemic. Related stories"Roan" was the perfect choice for my first child — Roan Mountain held such a special place in my heart, and I knew that one day, it would hold a special place in her heart, too. Without a doubt, the Hudson River Valley quickly became one of our homes-away-from-home — another special place in our book of life. It was perfect, and when we were surprised with a second daughter, it fit her well.

In the night, the mountain air not quite chill enough to still the insects, young people gathered around a glow. The light attracting them was not a phone screen, that electric lure for people almost everywhere, but a bonfire. Moths courted the flame, sparking when they veered too close, then swooning to their deaths. For months now, these hills of Karenni State in eastern Myanmar have been severed from modern communications. In these resistance strongholds, where people from around the nation have congregated, there is almost no internet, cell service or even electricity.

The impacts of air pollution are a growing concern for health organizations and climate regulators. The pandemic prompted some countries to prioritize finding ways to alleviate and prevent air pollution, including encouraging people to wear face masks. Vitale said exposure to negative ions could increase serotonin levels in the brain, which would help alleviate stress, anxiety, and depression, as well as improve sleep quality. At the same time, the UV light shines on the nanoparticle catalyst, which causes a reaction that releases negative ions. If travel companies want to capture the business of Gen Z travelers, they'll have to rethink their approach, according to research by Bernstein. Gen Z adults use TikTok and Instagram to make purchase decisions at more than double the rate of the average person, a Bernstein analysis found. While older generations may spend more money, younger Americans are booking more travel than Gen X and Baby Boomers. "Travel companies will need to cultivate their presence, rather than leaning on high conversion platforms like Google," he said. The vacation-rental platform has the highest skew to 18-24 year olds and 5.4 million Instagram followers, the highest among travel companies, he added.

Russia sent elite units to southern Ukraine to try to stop Ukraine advancing, a think tank said. It said Ukrainian armored vehicles appeared to have breached Russia's last line of defense. The ISW said it could not yet determine whether Ukrainian troops had completely broken through that last line of defense. The spike in oil prices is weighing on airline stocks, and there is still time to for traders to take advantage of that relationship through options trades, according to Barclays. Such underperformance has been worse only 10% of the time in the past 25yrs," the Barclays note said on Tuesday. The options market does not appear to have priced in these risks, Pascale said, so Barclays recommended two short-term trades. This structure would lower the cost of the trade, though it would also limit the upside if the JETS ETF falls below the lower strike price. The Barclays note recommended using $18 and $17 as the strike prices.

The recent pullback in Airbnb creates an attractive entry point for investors looking to buy a quality growth company, according to Bernstein. "Recent share price weakness presents a compelling entry point, with bear fears largely discredited following Q2," wrote analyst Richard Clarke in a Tuesday note to clients. "We see 30%+ potential upside, with an H2 acceleration as peers begin to slow, and ancillary revenue announcements in 2024 as key catalysts." Despite the recent stumble, Clarke remains bullish on the long-term outlook for the travel company he believes has one of the deepest moats, optionality and fastest core top- and bottom-line growth. ABNB 1M mountain Airbnb shares over the last month Although Airbnb looks expensive on a near-term basis, shares look "increasingly cheap" when accounting for the revenue increase from additional opportunities, Clarke wrote.

Heading home from Lake Tahoe on Saturday, President Joe Biden exchanged a week of waterfront seclusion for the more workaday realities of running the country from Washington. Like many presidents, Biden spent a good portion of August away from the White House, trading the capital’s stifling heat for the beach or the mountains. Of the first 26 days in August, Biden spent only one day entirely at the White House. He also held events at the White House marking his legislative accomplishments. The White House did detail some of the presidential tasks Biden undertook.

Evercore ISI is gearing up for first-quarter tech earnings by making short-term, bullish calls and a tactical bearish recommendation. Well-known technology analyst Mark Mahaney said underperformance in first quarter earnings is less likely given the negative revisions already seen across the tech sector in recent quarters. 1-ranked analyst for five years, named two two of his favorite tech names going into first quarter earnings, and one stock to bet against. Wall Street's consensus for Meta's first-quarter revenue is reasonable while the second quarter's is beatable, Mahaney argued. While industry checks were in line with forecasts through the beginning of March, demand appears to have cooled later in the quarter, Mahaney said.
Airbnb 's latest quarterly earnings outperformed expectations, but most analysts are still concerned about the stock going forward. Several analysts covering the stock reiterated their neutral or sell ratings on Airbnb a day after the company reported its calendar fourth-quarter results, citing ongoing risks for the short-term rental name. The analyst has a price target of $160 per share, implying upside of 32.3%. JPMorgan's Doug Anmuth also reiterated a neutral rating on the stock, noting that online travel is growing more competitive. Sheridan raised his price target on the stock to $98 per share from $87.
Trump recently said the US should build a nationwide missile defense shield like Israel's Iron Dome. It is unclear if Trump wants the Iron Dome system defending American cities or if he wants a new shield specifically designed for hypersonic threats. Either way, his plan for an "impenetrable" defense is unrealistic, a missile defense expert told Insider. 'There's always some way to get through'Right now, the US has a homeland missile defense system called the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD). While Trump appears to be questionably framing the missile defense situation, there are still certain things that the US can do to strengthen its homeland missile defense, Williams noted.
