That's for good reason: An Apple TV set didn't make sense years ago. But in theory, if that goes well, then maybe Apple will be more interested in chasing an Actual TV Set. Apple still sells a dedicated Apple TV box, which you can plug into any TV to transform it into an "Apple TV." AdvertisementYou can debate whether Apple TV+ is actually successful — its movie strategy seems … challenged — but it at least makes sense strategically: Apple TV+ is supposed to generate recurring monthly revenue, and Apple is all about recurring monthly revenue as part of its "services" push. A TV set — even the most awesome TV set — would be a one-and-done proposition for Apple.

“I strongly support clemency for Erik and Lyle Menendez, who are currently serving sentences of life without possibility of parole,” Gascón said in a statement. Erik Menendez and Lyle Menendez at a pretrial hearing in Los Angeles in December 1992. Lyle Menendez was 21 and Erik Menendez was 18 at the time of the killings. Attorneys for the brothers argued in clemency requests that they both were sexually abused by their father beginning at a young age. Those factors and their ages — Lyle Menendez is 56 and Erik Menendez is 53 — make each “an exemplary candidate for clemency,” the attorneys wrote.

CNN —The dramatic dismissal of the involuntary manslaughter case against actor Alec Baldwin over withheld evidence could mean the release of convicted “Rust” movie armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed from a New Mexico state prison, legal experts say. But the Baldwin case imploded on Friday – just two days after the trial began – with the sudden and shocking twists and turns of a nail-biting legal thriller. “I fully expect Hannah Gutierrez Reed to make the same argument for her conviction to be overturned,” Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor, told CNN. Her ruling regarding the failure to disclose the ammunition should carry significant weight in the Gutierrez Reed case, CNN legal analyst Joey Jackson said. Hannah Gutierrez Reed will go free as well.

"Calling Apple a 'monopoly' in phones is laughable," iconic tech journalist Walt Mossberg wrote in a series of posts on Threads. That's like calling the best-selling expensive wine a monopoly when it actually has a modest overall market share," Mossberg wrote. "The DOJ acts as if there's a right for competitors to use iMessage tech, which is proprietary to Apple.

CNN —A 2-year-old boy in Norwalk, Ohio, shot his pregnant mother in the back, killing her and the unborn child, police say. Police received a call just after 1 p.m. on June 16 from the 31-year-old mother, who said she was “shot in the back by her 2-year-old son,” according to a news release from the Norwalk Police Department. Both the mother and her son “were found in the upstairs master bedroom, along with” a pistol, the release said. During their search, detectives seized an additional 12-round magazine for the pistol that the 2-year-old had gotten hold of in a nightstand in the master bedroom. They also discovered a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun with six rounds in the master bedroom closet and an airsoft rifle in the computer room closet.
