Read previewAs we near the November elections, investors are increasingly focused on what a Donald Trump win would mean for global markets and economies. The charts below show how stock sectors moved in the 24 hours after the debate and how a Trump administration might impact sectors with varying regulatory burdens. If Trump wins, investors will need to cut through the noise and at least understand how he might impact different parts of the economy. Where monetary policy is concerned, leading economist Christophe Barraud believes a Trump administration could pressure the Federal Reserve to be very accommodative on rates, in other words, steeper or sooner cuts. It expects a Trump Administration to allow LNG export permits after the Biden Administration attempted to halt them.

A new study from Morgan Stanely makes the case that generative AI will enable people to work multiple jobs, writes Insider's Alistair Barr. In the US alone, multi-earning has increased 11% over the past year, largely thanks to the rise of generative AI tools like ChatGPT. New research from EY found that nearly 40% of Gen Zers had a side hustle to earn extra money. Adding fuel to the fire is the fact bosses don't seem to care if their employees are working multiple jobs, albeit with one caveat. To be sure, executives' acceptance of employees working multiple jobs might be short-lived.

In October, home prices rose 9.2% year-over-year, S&P Dow Jones Indices said in a December statement. Affordability is dropping at the quickest pace in decades, he said, as mortgage rates remain above 6% and home prices remain historically high. While new home supply has soared, existing-home supply has stayed relatively low, meaning total supply has stayed low. Housing supply is calculated by considering the number of houses available and the pace of home sales per month. Total months of supply remain at just four months, a level that has been historically associated with climbing home prices," Egan said.

Bank of Japan keeps ultra-low rates, dovish policy guidance

Sept 22 (Reuters) - The Bank of Japan maintained ultra-low interest rates and dovish policy guidance on Thursday, reassuring markets that it will continue to swim against a global tide of central banks tightening monetary policy to combat soaring inflation. "However, we believe that the BOJ will never allocate monetary policy for the FX rate adjustment and will stick to the YCC policy. "The most important thing is how the foreign-exchange rate reacts to that contrast in monetary policy between the U.S. and Japan. It also leaves the impression there will be no change in monetary policy during Kuroda's remaining term." He has said lesser about any merit of the weak yen recently out of consideration towards public sentiment against rising costs of living."
