The party of the Cambodian prime minister, Hun Sen, declared victory on Sunday in stage-managed parliamentary elections that prepared the way for the first change in leadership since he took office nearly four decades ago.
Although the official results will not be confirmed until Monday, the suppression of all meaningful opposition — often by violence — meant that Mr. Hun Sen’s party was always a virtual lock to sweep the election.
Sok Eysan, a spokesman for the Cambodian People’s Party of Mr. Hun Sen, said on Sunday that it had “won in a landslide.”“Among 125 seats, we won almost all,” he said.
“Maybe only one or two seats were won by another party.”
