In a record, five of the 25 movies inducted this year into the National Film Registry at the Library of Congress feature prominent Latino lead actors and storylines. AlamyCastro had included all of the films, except for “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan,” in the annual nominations list he submits to the National Film Registry. “The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez” film was actually inducted into the National Film Registry in 2022, thanks, in part, to Castro's efforts. “Spy Kids” marks the second time Rodríguez had one of his movies included in the National Film Registry. This film also received strong support from the public to have it inducted into the National Film Registry, the Library of Congress said.

There are still two-door cars today, of course, but they’re almost all high-performance sports cars not intended for comfortable cruising. For car designers, two-door models can offer more striking proportions to play with, long hoods that evoke power and tapered, aerodynamic back ends. Today, it’s rare to see a two-door car that isn’t a performance model like the Mustang or Corvette. Today, if you have a two-door car and you have kids, you also have a backache. While some two-door cars used to be bargain items – the cheapest entry-level cars were almost always two-door hatchbacks – today two-door models are seen mostly in European luxury car showrooms.

Brandy is speaking out after reports that she suffered a health scare. On Oct. 12, TMZ, citing anonymous law enforcement sources, reported that the 43-year-old musician had been taken to a Los Angeles hospital after emergency medical services responded to a call at her home. A few hours after the news broke, Brandy posted an update about her health on her Instagram story. “To my beloved fam, friends, and starz thank you for sending love and light my way,” the statement said. Earlier this year, Brandy channeled the late legendary singer during the NFC championship game between the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers.

Latinos are underrepresented in the media industry workforce across film, radio, television, newspapers and digital platforms, according to the report. Latinos are 19% of the nation's population, almost 1 in 5 Americans, and 18% of workers outside the media industry. The largest percentage of Hispanic media industry workers were employed in service worker positions (19%) — which include food, cleaning and personal and protective services, according to the latest available reports submitted by media companies to the U.S. In positions that can influence the content audiences consume, Latinos were far less represented: They made up only 7% of professional media industry positions such as actors, producers, directors, writers, reporters and editors. When Latinos did see themselves represented in content, they felt "it was inaccurate" in most cases, de Armas said.
