Remote work continues to be popular among workers. Nearly a quarter, 22% say remote work flexibility is the most important benefit, according to Monster's 2024 Work Watch Report. "A lot of remote jobs are tech jobs" for example, says John Mullinix, head of growth marketing at Ladders. But remote jobs can be found in a wide range of fields — including opportunities "that are upwards of $130,000," says Toni Frana, career expert at FlexJobs. Mullinix and Frana regularly scour their sites to see what employers are looking for and how much they'll pay.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Thursday reviewed two major players in the energy drink sector that have seen declines recently: Celsius and Monster . Wall Street has loved this sector in the past, Cramer said, but in March and April the two stocks have "turned ice cold," along with many other growth stocks. But he was optimistic about Celsius' future performance, saying he'd buy the stock over Monster. While tighter inventory from PepsiCo isn't ideal, Cramer said he thinks Celsius will be fine moving forward because the rest of its business is solid. He acknowledged that Celsius stock has started to rebound — finishing up 6.4% on Thursday — but said it's still a good time to buy since it remains down from its highs.

"The fact remains that the job market has remained more robust and resilient than had been expected," he added. And yet, there are a few things that young adults entering the job market aren't willing to compromise on, especially when it comes to work-life balance. Going forward, however, there may be fewer remote options for those just starting out. Where new grads get the best bang for their buckCompanies with remote work opportunities will allow job seekers to cast a wider net, Salemi said. After years of high inflation, new grads must also contend with elevated food, transportation and housing costs, depending on where they go.

A job interview is a face-to-face opportunity to prove to an employer why you're the right fit for the role. And while most job candidates were composed during the interview process, she and her colleagues encountered a few whose behavior raised some eyebrows. "It was just like, 'I'll be done when I say I'm done,'" says Salemi of his attitude. Salemi can't remember if that person got the job, but his attitude certainly made the rounds in the HR department.

TOKYO (AP) — Godzilla, the nightmarish radiation spewing monster born out of nuclear weapons, has stomped through many movies, including several Hollywood remakes. It was a mood that fit his supernatural “very Japanese” Godzilla, Yamazaki said at the Tokyo International Film Festival, where “Godzilla Minus One” is the closing film. That helped inspire the last Japanese Godzilla, the 2016 “Shin Godzilla,” directed by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi. Toho studios hadn’t made a Godzilla film since 2004. But what he really wants to make is a “Star Wars” film.

Monster Beverage could be the frontrunner of the global energy drink market, according to HSBC. "We forecast revenue growth for Monster in the US ahead of industry growth, achieved through more targeted marketing and brands." Revenue during this time period from the LatAm and EMEA energy beverage markets should triple from their current levels, he said. "We see room for better occasion-brand package-price-channel segmentation in LatAm, which is where Monster's LatAm bottlers are first in class," the analyst said. According to the note, the energy beverage market is worth over $20 billion in the U.S. and over $70 billion worldwide, and has been among the fastest-growing beverage categories for the past 10 years.

April 12 (Reuters) - Monster Beverage Corp (MNST.O), the maker of Monster Energy drink, on Wednesday persuaded a California federal court to block rival Vital Pharmaceuticals, maker of Bang Energy, from marketing its drinks as containing "Super Creatine." U.S. District Judge Jesus Bernal said the order of a permanent injunction was necessary to keep Monster from continuing to lose prospective customers and market share because of Bang's "Super Creatine" labeling. Bernal's order requires Bang and its founder Jack Owoc to stop using "Super Creatine" in marketing, take down related ads and issue corrective statements. Bang has become one of the best-selling energy drinks in the United States behind leading brands like Monster and Red Bull. It accused Bang and Owoc of touting their energy drink with "Super Creatine" as a "miracle drink" that can "reverse mental retardation" and help cure neurological disorders.

"The Woman King" and "Till" got zero nominations for this year's Academy Awards. The snubs show Hollywood still undervalues Black creatives, especially Black women. The film led box-office charts when it debuted in September, and had some in Hollywood expecting the movie to nab spots for best picture, best director, or best actress. And this is the second year in a row in which no Black woman was nominated for the best actress trophy. For critics, the snubs of "The Woman King" and "Till" are proof that the Academy still doesn't give Black talent, particularly Black women, a fair chance to be recognized.
If you're laid off, you can take some steps immediately to boost your chances of finding another job soon. With concerns of a recession on the horizon, laid-off workers should take steps immediately to get back on their feet and find another job quickly. Focus on skills in your resumeWhen revamping your resume, zero in on the transferrable skills you have. "It's really important to refresh your resume and make sure that it reflects the skills, not the jobs, that you've had," said Frankiewicz. "Employers are increasingly looking for skills: learnability, adaptability, agility, curiosity, communication skills — bring those things forward.
To capitalize on this moment, Toho, the Japanese film studio that owns the monster and licenses it to Legendary in the U.S., said it will produce a new Godzilla film a year from Thursday, the anniversary of the monster's first film. The new film comes as global audiences have more access to Godzilla content than ever before thanks to deep libraries of movies and TV series on streaming services. The recent box office success of U.S. studio Legendary's Monsterverse, which kicked off with a Godzilla film in 2014 and led to "Godzilla vs. Kong" in 2021, has also helped. The films, especially the most recent installment, have been among some of the most in demand on streaming services. "There's more access to Godzilla than ever before because of streaming services and the internet," said Bill Tsutsui, a historian and academic known for his expertise in Godzilla.
Nov 1 (Reuters) - Grieving relatives of the 17 students and teachers killed in a 2018 high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, confronted the killer, Nikolas Cruz, with tearful, angry words as his sentencing hearing began on Tuesday. The jury voted to spare Cruz from the death penalty for one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history, a decision several survivors' relatives decried in court as injustice. [1/4] Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooter Nikolas Cruz enters the courtroom for the sentencing hearing in Cruz’s trial at the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, U.S. on Monday, Nov. 1, 2022. Cruz was 19 at the time of his attack and had been expelled from the school. Florida law requires that Scherer must follow the jury's recommendation in formally sentencing Cruz.
New York City's Wage Transparency Law goes into effect on Nov. 1, making it mandatory for employers to share the salary or hourly wage in postings. "We expect the recent wave of pay transparency legislation to continue," said Mariann Madden, director of work and rewards at benefits consulting firm WTW, formerly known as Willis Towers Watson. "Job seekers and current employees want to know and understand that they are treated fairly and are provided with equal opportunities to thrive and grow within the organization," Madden said. The idea is that pay transparency will bring about pay equity, or essentially equal pay for work of equal or comparable value, regardless of worker gender, race or other demographic category. "Employers may realize this transparency is important to job seekers and start including it anyway without a mandate," she said.
