After several guests highlighted Mr. Walz’s average-Joe persona and background as a football coach, he officially accepted the Democrats’ vice-presidential nomination.
Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota helped to introduce Mr. Walz before he took the stage, emphasizing his Midwestern roots.
“America, I gave my best to you,” he said, reciting a phrase from the song “American Anthem” by Gene Scheer.
