New York CNN —Red Lobster wants to close several dozen more restaurants following its bankruptcy, and it has identified which ones are in danger of shutting down if the court approves its plan. The chain, which brought affordable shrimp and lobster to middle-class America and grew to become the largest seafood restaurant chain in the world, filed for bankruptcy last month. Red Lobster said that it had more than $1 billion in debt and less than $30 million in cash on hand. Part of its plan is to close some locations of its nearly 600 restaurants in the meantime. A few weeks prior to its bankruptcy, it abruptly closed around 50 locations across the United States.

Oct 25 (Reuters) - Chipmaking equipment supplier KLA (KLAC.O) on Wednesday forecast second-quarter revenue above Wall Street estimates, boosted by growing adoption of artificial intelligence tools that require sophisticated processors. This has driven demand for equipment to make and design chips benefiting KLA and its peers such as ASML (ASML.AS) and Applied Materials (AMAT.O). KLA expects fiscal second-quarter revenue of $2.45 billion, plus or minus $125 million. Analysts were expecting revenue of $2.41 billion, according to LSEG data. The company reported revenue of $2.4 billion for the first quarter ended Sept. 30, compared with estimates of $2.36 billion.

CNN —The US Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday charged a former Pfizer employee and his friend for trading on insider information regarding the success of the company’s trial for Paxlovid, its Covid antiviral drug. The US Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of New York also charged Amit Dagar, the former Pfizer employee, and his friend Atul Bhiwapurkar, in a separate case. “The charges in this case relate to the personal conduct of a former Pfizer employee in violation of the company’s policies. Shares of Pfizer rose nearly 11% on November 5, 2021, the day the company announced the results of the Paxlovid trial. Bhiwapurkar, 45, of Milpitas, California, has been charged with two counts of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud.

April 26 (Reuters) - Chip tools maker KLA Corp (KLAC.O) forecast fourth-quarter revenue and profit above Wall Street expectations on Wednesday, riding on plans by chipmakers to expand production and build new factories in Europe and the United States. Chipmakers are scrambling to boost capacity and tool makers including KLA and Applied Materials (AMAT.O) will gain from this. KLA makes tools for inspecting the silicon wafer discs, on which semiconductors are built, for defects. KLA forecast current-quarter revenue between $2.13 billion and $2.38 billon, compared to analysts' estimates of $2.17 billion, according to Refinitiv data. Revenue in the third quarter ended March 31 rose 6.3% to $2.43 billion, beating estimates of $2.38 billion.
