Adani, which has several other global projects, is also charged with misleading U.S. investors about Adani Green's compliance with antibribery principles and laws. The charges also put the spotlight on Sagar Adani, a director at Adani Green and millennial scion of the company who kept track of hundreds of millions of dollars of alleged bribes to Indian officials on his mobile phone.

A key Cabinet player, the US Treasury secretary advises the president on economic and fiscal matters, including spending and taxes. London CNN —The coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla held in May last year cost British taxpayers £72 million ($91 million), an amount some have labeled excessive. The £72 million spent on the coronation could have paid for 24 million free meals for schoolchildren in London, based on the city government’s current budget of £3.00 ($3.75) per meal. Some additional spending came from the Privy Purse, the monarch’s private source of income, a royal source told CNN. “Plans (for the coronation) were scaled back,” the royal source told CNN. The culture department, in its accounts, said it had underspent its budget on the coronation by £2.8 million ($3.5 million).

Previously, some individual turkey producers had sent their products to the president to promote them, but the greater resources of the National Turkey Federation meant that the story could be promoted more effectively. The turkey sent to President Truman was killed and eaten, as were turkeys subsequently sent to President Dwight Eisenhower. The turkeys pardoned by President Biden last Thanksgiving were supplied by America’s largest turkey producer, Jennie-O Turkey Store, part of the giant Hormel Foods Corporation.
