Follow her on Instagram, Facebook and X.CNN —One of the top Halloween costumes for kids this year, Red from the movie “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” is frequently sold by retailers as a short, tight red getup with lace or fishnet material and zippers. Emirates Stadium CNN —It wasn’t pretty and at times it wasn’t pleasant, but Arsenal got the job done in the Champions League with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday. After Riznyk saved Leandro Trossard’s second-half penalty, Shakhtar went in search of a late equaliser but a combination of poor final passes and resolute Arsenal defending mean it leaves north London empty handed. The home fans responded to Arsenal’s positive start, as the first chants of “Arsenal, Arsenal,” echoed around the Emirates. After successfully riding the early waves of Arsenal attacks, Shakhtar grew into the game and started to look like a threat on the counterattack. Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya had to get down smartly to save Pedrinho’s long-range shot, but that was the closest Shakhtar came to snatching a point.

CNN —Two mistakes from Italy star Gianluigi Donnarumma proved decisive on Tuesday night as Arsenal claimed a 2-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. In the 20th minute, Donnarumma left his goal line to attempt to punch clear a cross from Leandro Trossard, but he was beaten to the ball by Havertz, who headed into the empty net. But Arsenal would double its lead in the 35th minute when Saka sent a curling free kick into the box. Gabriel Martinelli and Thomas Partey missed the ball, but so did Donnarumma and the cross found its way into his net. If you like your European midweek football this is the week for you, with 54 Champions League, Europa League and Conference League matches being crammed into three nights. The Champions League kicked things off with some of the competition’s favourites beginning to bare their teeth. Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden, Erling Haaland and a first Champions League goal for James McAtee saw City get their first win of this year’s competition. CNN —Former Manchester United coach Benni McCarthy says the Red Devils can finish in the top four this season, but are still behind the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool in the English Premier League (EPL) title race. Since McCarthy left ahead of the new season, United has lost two of its first three league games. Speaking to CNN Sport, though, McCarthy remained optimistic about the Red Devils and stressed that opponents may regret overlooking the 13-time Premier League winners. There is, after all, still the intriguing possibility that the championship is decided on goal difference for just the second time in the Premier League era. So, for example, if Arsenal beat Everton a single goal, City would need to win by four. Such a close finish would be unprecedented in the Premier League era. If City defeat Spurs but then draw with West Ham, and Arsenal win against Everton, then we are back in goal-difference territory again. Following City’s victory over Fulham on Saturday, Arsenal knew they realistically had to win both their games to have a chance at securing their first Premier League title since the 2003-04 season.

The commentators may mention it in passing, but their tone will indicate that the hyperbole is not to be punctured. And if Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta try to point it out before Manchester City faces Arsenal on Sunday, it will be viewed as gamesmanship, or deflection, or unapologetic sophistry. Still, it is true: The meeting between City and Arsenal will not provide the deciding, defining moment in the Premier League’s most compelling title race in a decade. It is a game of glowering significance and considerable heft, of course, a chance for one team to clear a towering, looming hurdle. There is a better than even chance that by the time the whistle is blown at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday night, neither of them will be top of the league.
