The generation is leading the way when it comes to pet ownership — almost a third of US pet owners are millennials. Across the board, more pet owners are splurging on their animals. In its annual surveys, the American Pet Products Association has found that pet owners have reported spending more on things like treats, food, toys, and clothing each year. While some millennial dog owners are forgoing having children, others are using dogs as training for parenthood. Dog owners can't be blamed entirely for the changing behavior.

Feb 24 (Reuters) - Shares of Chinese companies listed in the United States fell in early trading on Friday as reports that Washington was looking to expand the number of troops helping train Taiwanese forces added to rising Sino-U.S. tensions. The iShares China Large-Cap ETF slipped 2.9%, while KraneShares CSI China Internet ETF shed 2.8%. China's blue-chip CSI300 Index (.CSI300) closed 1% lower during Asia hours, while shares of aerospace defense companies jumped. Relations between the world's two largest economies worsened this month over the shooting down of the Chinese spy balloon, weighing on China ADRs after a sharp rally starting late last year. A multitude of factors weighed on China ADRs last year including a risk of delisting from U.S. exchanges over an audit dispute, trade friction and geopolitical worries.

FRANKFURT, Nov 28 (Reuters) - U.S. buyout firm Carlyle Group (CG.O) has raised more than three billion euros ($3.12 billion) for a pan-European technology fund that is taking advantage of "pockets of life" in the economy, the co-heads of Carlyle Europe Technology Partners told Reuters. Carlyle aims to invest in approximately 20-30 companies through the new fund and in most cases will buy a majority stake. It will, however, reserve about 15% of the fund for growth equity transactions, Wand and Lasocki said. The fund will write equity cheques of up to 250 million euros, resulting in deals from between 100 million euros and 500 million euros in enterprise value, they said. Targeting B2B technology businesses in Europe, Carlyle will support portfolio firms with plans to become more international, for example breaking into the U.S. market.

Republican megadonor Peter Thiel is hosting a fundraiser at his Los Angeles home next week for Arizona Senate candidate Blake Masters after GOP officials asked the tech mogul for more money heading into the final stretch of the November midterm elections. The move by Thiel to host Masters comes as donations from the tech mogul to separate super PACs supporting Masters and Ohio Senate candidate J.D. Republican leaders and campaign officials, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., have reportedly asked Thiel to help Vance and Masters in the general election. Vance and Masters both worked with Thiel before they launched their Senate campaigns. Vance once worked at investment firm Mithril Capital, which was co-founded by Thiel, while Masters was the chief operating officer at Thiel Capital.
