The wife of an Illinois judge was arrested and charged with fatally shooting her husband, according to Illinois State Police. Megan Valentine, 44 of Albion, was arrested Tuesday after the body of Illinois Second Judicial Circuit Court Judge Michael J. Valentine was found outside of a home, per a news release from police. She was charged with first degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated domestic battery, according to court documents filed in Edwards County Thursday. He served as second circuit judge since 2022. Previously, he was elected to serve as a circuit judge in 2016, and also served as Edwards County State's Attorney.

Michel was in a four-man sled piloted by Michael Vogt when it crashed Tuesday during training for this weekend's World Cup races in Altenberg. This weekend's Altenberg races are the last World Cup events prior to the world championships; there is one last World Cup weekend coming in mid-March to Lake Placid, New York. The Swiss team said Vogt “suffered a severe concussion and bruises” and push athletes Dominik Hufschmid and Andreas Haas also had slight injuries. Stroud became the youngest quarterback to win a playoff game after throwing for 274 yards and three touchdowns, and the Houston Texans returned two interceptions by Joe Flacco for scores in a 45-14 rout of the Cleveland Browns in a wild-card matchup Saturday. LONDON — A 16-year-old named Luke Littler on Wednesday will compete in the final of the PDC World Darts Championship hoping to become the youngest ever winner of the sport's premier tournament. The number of billionaires rose by 7% to 2,544 people globally, UBS said in its 2023 Billionaires Ambitions Report, with their total worth rising by 9% to an estimated $12 trillion. For the first time since the study started in 2015, billionaires accumulated more wealth via inheritance than through their own business activities. Among the 137 new billionaires, a total of $150.8 billion was inherited by 53 heirs over the last year, exceeding the 84 new self-made billionaires' total of $140.7 billion, the bank said. The study highlighted a trend away from self-made billionaires, created by the tech industry boom and symbolised by the rise of Tesla boss Elon Musk and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Still, despite the large inherited wealth, this did not necessarily mean a new generation of super-rich 20 somethings.

Anderson, who served two terms from 2000-2008, has criticized Mendenhall for not doing enough to alleviate the rising cost of housing. "Salt Lake City is building more affordable housing than every mayoral administration combined by a lot — 413% increase in our investment in the creation of affordable housing units. However the affordable housing being built has been for those with incomes far higher than most service industry workers make, Valentine pointed out.
