She also urged mobile home park residents to organize their communities and if there are complaints, to do it as a group, which is more effective.

It marked the eighth consecutive quarter of negative comparable sales at Home Depot, though the smallest drop since the string of declines began. Pitchfork announced that its annual Chicago music festival would not return in 2025. In an announcement on social media and on its website, the music publication said it made the decision after assessing the rapidly evolving "music festival landscape." “For 19 years, Pitchfork Music Festival has been a celebration of music, art, and community—a space where memories were made, voices were amplified, and the shared love of music brought us all together." Pitchfork Music Festival was founded in 2006 by the publication's founder Ryan Schreiber, ex-Pitchfork staffer Chris Kaskie and festival producer Mike Reed. It is unclear if the music festival will move forward in the other cities, but Pitchfork said in its statement that it "will continue to produce events in 2025 and beyond."

Mr. Trump is widely regarded around the world as a transactional leader. Chinese officials do see a potential upside if Mr. Trump pulls the United States back from its role as a global leader. But the Kremlin seems skeptical that Mr. Trump would actually push for such a deal, especially because of his track record: There was jubilation in Moscow when Mr. Trump won in 2016, but over the next four years, U.S. sanctions against Russia only increased, and Mr. Trump sent antitank weapons to Ukraine. On Wednesday, he quickly made clear that he would seek to have Mr. Trump on his side, as one of the first world leaders to congratulate Mr. Trump in a post on X. Mr. Trump has been effective in demanding more military spending from fellow NATO members, said Mr. Heisbourg.

MEXICO CITY — A local leader of the Mexican folk saint cult “La Santa Muerte” was gunned down at an altar to the skeletal figure late Friday, authorities said. Two other people were killed and eight injured in the attack in the city of Leon, in Guanajuato state, the authorities added. But that didn’t work for “La Madrina Chayo,” a woman considered a leader of the cult in the north-central state of Guanajuato. Like Mexico’s Day of the Dead holiday, the Santa Muerte is honored on Nov. 1 and 2. While the cult may sound ominous, the annual celebrations honoring the Santa Muerte are friendly affairs, with people warmly greeting fellow worshippers and offering them small gifts.

Director Jacques Audiard’s genre-defying musical, “Emilia Pérez” — a stylized imagining of how a life of crime could be at least temporarily transformed by becoming one’s true self — may be the most ambitious yet. Zoe Saldaña, right, as Rita Moro Castro and Karla Sofía Gascón as Emilia Pérez in "Emilia Pérez." NetflixFar from offering Gascón a small part, Audiard, by his own admission, would have struggled to make “Emilia Pérez” at all without its central star. Karla Sofía Gascón, the titular star of Netflix's "Emilia Pérez," helped French auteur Jacques Audiard shape the film’s transgender storyline. But her journey as the star of “Emilia Pérez” is far from over — with award season right around the corner and, the actor said, her characters’ lingering presence.

The life of the marigold, known as the cempasúchil in Mexico, reflects our own: the plant sprouts, grows, flowers and dies. The flowers’ yellow and orange glow is ubiquitous across Mexico every year in the first few days of November, during Day of the Dead, as families place cempasúchil flowers on altars and at cemeteries to create a path to guide their loved ones back home. My grandmother died of Covid in October 2020, just as the cempasúchil began to appear in the markets of Mexico City. A few days later, my cousin Gabriel, who lived with my grandmother, went to buy the materials for her first altar. Did they have the chance to celebrate their loved ones?

Mexico City Reuters —Eight of 11 justices on Mexico’s Supreme Court have resigned and declined to participate in an election for the court scheduled for June, the court said on Wednesday. Seven of the jurists’ resignations are effective August 31, 2025, while Aguilar will leave office on November 30. The slate of resignations heightens tensions between Mexico’s Supreme Court and the ruling bloc, increasing the risk of a constitutional crisis as Congress and the presidency remain at odds with the judiciary over the reform. In her letter to the Senate on Wednesday, Rios said her resignation “should not be seen as an implicit endorsement of a (reform) framework that remains controversial.”The 11-member Supreme Court will see its number reduced to nine as part of the reform. Three current justices have publicly backed the reform.

President Harris would probably put more pressure on Israel to reach a cease-fire and open up talks with the Palestinians. Ukrainians worry that a President Trump would force a quick and dirty peace deal favorable to Russia. They hope a President Harris would continue to support them on the battlefield. Under President Harris, that would probably mean continuity with the Biden administration policies that have become much more restrictive over time. CNN —People who only exercise on weekends have a similar risk of developing mild dementia to those who work out more frequently, a new study has found. A team of academics from Latin America and Europe set out to determine whether the frequency of exercise affects the risk of developing mild dementia. The finding led the team to conclude that 13% of cases of mild dementia could be avoided if all middle-aged people exercised at least once or twice a week. When compared with the group that did not exercise, the weekend warriors were 13% less likely to develop mild dementia, and those in the regular and combined groups were 12% less likely. I feel quite strongly that the weekend warriors around the world should be told that what they are doing is fine.”He added: “The weekend warrior research is starting to add up now.

Thousands of Oasis tickets on the secondary market will reportedly be relisted on Ticketmaster at face value, according to the BBC. Oasis, Ticketmaster and SJM Concerts did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Oasis had announced that tickets for the Oasis '25 Live tour could only be resold at face value using Ticketmaster or the ticket resale marketplace Twickets. The demand for Oasis tickets has been high since the band, which features brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, has not performed together in 15 years following a lengthy feud between the Gallaghers. Since then, Oasis has been taking steps to get tickets in the hands of loyal fans and away from scalpers.

Editor’s Note: Sign up for Unlocking the World, CNN Travel’s weekly newsletter. There’s a not-very-flattering term for those exhibiting the behavior: “gate lice.”It might feel harmless, but swarming the gate can lead to congestion, confusion and longer wait times. To tackle the problem, American Airlines is trialing new technology at airports in New Mexico, Arizona and Virginia. Passengers who attempt to board before their assigned group is called will set off an error beep, alerting the gate agent — and also rule-abiding fellow passengers.
