Drug overdose deaths fell 12.7% in the 12 months ending in May, according to preliminary data released Wednesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “This is the largest recorded reduction in overdose deaths,” White House officials said in a statement. CNN —GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic and Wegovy may help lower the risk of certain cancers, a new study suggests. About 40% of new cancer diagnoses are associated with excess weight, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The risk was cut by more than half for gallbladder cancer, meningioma, pancreatic cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma, a kind of liver cancer. It was also significantly reduced for ovarian cancer, colorectal cancer, multiple myeloma, esophageal cancer, endometrial cancer and kidney cancer. And GLP-1 medications interact with systems related to insulin production.

The no-show rate for appointments has dropped from roughly 25% to 5% or less with telehealth visits.
