☆ The sexiest new hotels for 2024

This list tries to do just that – spotlight the hotels opening (or reopening, as one of them is) in 2024 that make us want to visit for the hotel alone. Properties with a little bit of oomph – the sexy hotels of 2024, as we like to call them. For spring 2024, Costa Rica’s on the cards, with this beachfront hotel at surfer central Santa Teresa, on the Pacific Coast. Existing ones have been refurbished, and new pool villas, suites and bungalows have been added to the mix. Pool villas are cute cabins with patio doors opening on the open-to-the-elements plunge pools, while the bungalows will be wood-clad, tropical spaces.

☆ Mark Zuckerberg says Meta employees who work in person 'get more done'

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has declared that 2023 is the company's "year of efficiency," and according to a release, that includes "refining" Meta's distributed work model. As part of the announcement, Zuckerberg said that an internal analysis of employee performance data suggests that engineers who work in person "get more done." He said Meta remains committed to distributed work, but he encouraged employees to find more opportunities to work with one another in person. The company carried its flexible-work policies into 2021 when it announced that workers at all levels of the company could request to work remotely full-time. Meta is still promoting remote roles in 2023, and many employees have the option to work in person.

Facebook Chief Executive Officer and founder, Mark Zuckerberg, leaving the Merrion Hotel in Dublin after meeting with Irish politicians to discuss regulation of social media, transparrency in political advertising and the safety of young people and vulnerable adults. Ireland's data privacy regulator imposed a 265 million euro ($277 million) fine on social media giant Facebook on Monday, bringing the total it has fined parent group Meta to almost 1 billioneuros. Monday's fine is the fourth Ireland's Data Privacy Commissioner (DPC) has levied against one of Meta's companies. It is Meta's lead privacy regulator within the European Union, and has 13 more inquiries into the social media group outstanding. In September the watchdog hit its Instagram subsidiary with a record fine of 405 million euros, which Meta plans to appeal.
