In a report last week about China's consumer market potential, Bank of America Securities analysts chose hotel operator H World as one of its top picks. "We believe H World is best positioned to capture long-term growth in the China hotel industry given best-in-class execution," the analysts said. BofA rates H World a buy, and expects its U.S.-listed shares can reach $47. That's 30% above where H World shares closed Thursday. In China, H World also owns master franchisee rights for Mercure, Ibis and Ibis Styles, and co-development rights for Grand Mercure and Novotel.

This list tries to do just that – spotlight the hotels opening (or reopening, as one of them is) in 2024 that make us want to visit for the hotel alone. JAKARTA, Aug 29 (Reuters) - A strong earthquake of 7.0 magnitude struck deep in the sea north of Bali and Lombok islands in Indonesia early on Tuesday, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said, sending residents running out of buildings. The quake's epicentre was 203 km (126 miles) north of Mataram, Indonesia, and very deep at 516 km below the Earth's surface, EMSC said. Indonesian and U.S. geological agencies pegged the magnitude at 7.1, with no threat of a tsunami. Guests at Bali's Mercure Kuta Bali ran out of their rooms after feeling the tremor for a few seconds, hotel manager Suadi told Reuters by phone. "The quake is deep so it should not be destructive," BNPB spokesperson Abdul Muhari said.

The Orient Express brand is taking to the high seas with a 720-foot superyacht. The Orient Express Silenseas will have 54 suites as well as a huge presidential suite. The Accor Group, the hotel giant that also owns Sofitel, Mercure and Novotel, said the Orient Express Silenseas will be able to accommodate up to 120 guests. The CEO of Accor, Europe's top hotel chain, said he's hiring workers without experience or résumés. Sebastien Bazin said some Accor hotels were limiting restaurant hours because of staff shortages. Hospitality workers have been quitting their jobs over wages, benefits, and working conditions. It means some hotels have been forced to widen their candidate pools — with Accor, Europe's largest hotel chain, turning to workers without experience or even résumés. Some days, Accor hotels have been forced to stop serving lunch or even completely close their restaurants because they don't have enough staff, Bazin said.
