A Florida man arrested on suspicion of weapons violations on Halloween had a list of targets that included a congressman and locations he associated with Jewish and Black people, prosecutors allege. The Federal Public Defender of South Florida did not immediately respond to a request for comment. A customary walk-through of the home turned up evidence of firearms, including spent shell casings and a homemade target, Anton said. The alleged list of targets includes Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla., as well as locations the writer of the list characterized as draws for Jewish and Black people — a synagogue, a Jewish cemetery, a Jewish sandwich shop and parks and schools that were described using a derogatory term for Black people, according to Anton's filing. One entry on the list said, "Stalk Jewish parks," the proffer said.

Multiple weather fronts will push rain and snow into the Midwest, the Southeast, the mid-Atlantic and the Northeast ahead of Thanksgiving week and some of the year's busiest travel days. Rain, snow expected this weekStarting in the Pacific Northwest, a "long duration atmospheric river" was expected to bring 5 inches of rain and at least 3 inches of snow to Oregon and Northern California beginning as early as Monday, federal forecasters and academic researchers said. The rest of the country is likely to get normal precipitation or below-normal rain during that time, the prediction center said. American Airlines said in a statement Thursday that it expects to set a record for passengers served during the holiday span, with nearly 8.3 million expected. It may be too early to tell whether brewing rain and snow systems will thwart travel and spending plans.

The FBI on Friday said reports of racist and offensive text messages sent from anonymous phone numbers are now being sent to members of Latino and LGBTQ communities. The FBI is investigating previous reports of dozens of racist texts sent to Black Americans telling them they have been “selected" to pick cotton "at the nearest plantation" immediately following last week's election. The initial reports of racist texts last week included recipients who attend universities from California to South Carolina, with some sent via TextNow, a service compatible with untraceable, “burner” phone numbers. The FBI on Friday said the texts from the initial reports were not identical but seemed to follow similar themes. The agency said it's also sharing information on the expanding texts and emails with education institutions and faith leaders.

The statement may have come as a surprise to longtime viewers of the sketch comedy show, but cast members, looking out for their future under a second Trump administration, made clear that he has been a longtime favorite. And, should anyone accuse cast members of being insincere or secret critics of Trump's, they quickly began throwing people under the bus. "Mr. Trump, your honor," he said, "we know that you say things that are controversial sometimes, but really you're just speaking the truth. “But seriously, I run the country now.”The cast addressed what many pundits have said was the key demographic in the 2024 presidential election: young men who feel unseen.
