Uber is switching its $600 million ad buying business from WPP to rival Omnicom, according to two people familiar with the matter. Uber began a competitive pitch for its media business in March. Florian Adamski, Omnicom Media Group CEO, said in a statement that its agencies would make its "strategic data capabilities" central to its work for Uber. Omnicom media agencies have notched up a handful of sizeable wins since the beginning of July. New business has included the $585 million Beiersdorf account, the $150 million global HSBC business, and the $150 million brief from lottery operator Allwyn Entertainment, according to marketing industry tracker COMvergence.

July 2 (Reuters) - DirecTV removed TV station owner Nexstar Media Group's (NXST.O) network and local community programming from its satellite, cable and streaming systems as they failed to reach a new distribution agreement, the companies said on Sunday. "Nexstar continues to manipulate loopholes to exceed the 39% national ownership cap, and has made public statements lauding its 68% reach across all U.S. TV households," DirecTV said. Both companies added that they are in discussions to return Nexstar programming to DirecTV and are hopeful for a quick resolution. The lawsuit sought an order blocking Nexstar from allegedly colluding with Mission Broadcasting Inc and White Knight Broadcasting Inc in fee negotiations with DirecTV. Paramount Global mulls sale of majority stake in BET -source

March 6 (Reuters) - Paramount Global (PARA.O) is mulling the possible sale of a majority stake in BET Media Group, which includes the BET cable network, BET Studios and VH1, a source with knowledge of the matter told Reuters. BET drew an immediate expression of interest from Byron Allen, whose Allen Media Group's assets include The Weather Channel. A spokesperson for Allen Media Group said it "will be pursuing the acquisition of the network." Paramount also formed BET Studios in 2021 through a partnership with "Black-ish" creator Kenya Barris, actress Rashida Jones and "S.W.A.T" co-creator Aaron Rahsaan Thomas. The Wall Street Journal first reported that Paramount was exploring a possible sale of BET as it looks to improve its balance sheet.
Advertising titan Martin Sorrell believes Meta will rebound "extremely strongly this year" and sees a promising outlook for U.S. tech giants, despite a bruising 2022 and mass layoffs. Facebook parent Meta in November announced plans to eliminate 13% of its staff, amounting to more than 11,000 employees. It also issued bleak fourth-quarter guidance that wiped out around a quarter of its market cap, pushing the stock to its lowest since 2016. The company has also taken a substantial hit from its massive investment in building its augmented reality world known as the metaverse — a strategy that has proven divisive among analysts and investors.
