Over the past two centuries, Nantucket has gone from a whaling town to a hippie refuge to a holiday hot spot for billionaires.
"To use a well-worn phrase, come hell or high water, people are still buying multimillion-dollar homes on Nantucket."
Between 2030 and 2100, the number of structures exposed to coastal erosion is expected to go from 113 to 860.
"Without erosion, this would be an extremely valuable area," Baxter Road resident Joshua Posner told BI.
"It's not inexpensive, but it is worth doing," Posner told BI.
