Burberry, the British luxury brand, on Monday reported falling sales, suspended its dividend and replaced its chief executive, as it grapples with a pullback in spending by consumers on high-end fashion and related goods. Burberry said revenue fell more than 20 percent in its latest quarter, which ended June 29. To bolster its balance sheet, Burberry paused its dividend. The company named Joshua Schulman as its new chief executive, replacing Jonathan Akeroyd, who is leaving the company immediately. The abrupt departure of Mr. Akeroyd, a fashion industry veteran who was previously chief executive of Versace and Alexander McQueen, came less than two and a half years after he was tapped to run Burberry.

CNN —Samsung’s latest generation of foldable phones aim to draw in traditional phone users with the help of artificial intelligence. The new Galaxy Z Fold starts at $1,899.99, up $100 from last year, and is available in silver, pink and navy. Meanwhile, the Z Flip starts at $1,099.99 (also $100 more than last year) and comes in silver, yellow, blue and mint. Samsung’s foldable line occupies between 80% and 85% of the market share. But those same people might prefer to sleep with a smart ring on their finger rather than a smartwatch on their wrist.

Calvin Klein, a brand that recently made waves with an ad campaign featuring the actor Jeremy Allen White in nothing but his underwear, is getting a little more buttoned up. On Thursday, it announced it would restart its high-end Collection business under a new creative director, Veronica Leoni, along with a return to the runway — and, perhaps, to its former position as a tentpole of New York Fashion Week. Ms. Leoni will be the first named designer Calvin Klein has had in five years and the first woman to lead the house. She is one of the few women to be appointed to the top of the creative side of a major brand in the last year, when most of the big jobs have been given to white men. Calvin Klein reported 2023 revenues of $3.9 billion, a growth of only 3 percent.

One problem: Disney had weakened the Pixar brand by using its films to build the Disney+ streaming service. Starting in late 2020, when many multiplexes were still closed because of the coronavirus pandemic, Disney debuted three Pixar films in a row (“Soul,” “Turning Red” and “Luca”) online, bypassing theaters altogether. At the time — around December 2020 — Disney was pouring money into the streaming service in a wild and ultimately unsuccessful effort to attract up to 260 million subscribers worldwide. As part of the retrenchment at Pixar, “Elio,” a movie about an 11-year-old boy who is inadvertently beamed into space, was delayed. Disney pushed it to June 2025.
