CNN —Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday – his third successive triumph in Montreal – after the three-time world champion expertly navigated an unpredictable race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. “I do think it was a very good team effort today,” Verstappen said in his post-race interview. But as conditions dried, Norris took his chance to overtake both Verstappen and Russell to take the lead. Lewis Hamilton surprised Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff when he broke the news over breakfast that he was leaving the F1 team for Ferrari but there is “no grudge” between them, Wolff said Friday. Hamilton is leaving Mercedes at the end of the upcoming season to join Ferrari for 2025 in a move announced Thursday. Hamilton has raced for Mercedes since 2013 and won six of his seven titles with the team. Wolff said he has no concerns about involving Hamilton with Mercedes’ car development, even with Hamilton due to join a rival. CNN —It has been a while since Red Bull failed to win a Formula One race so the Singapore Grand Prix gave fans some unexpected variety when Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz secured victory in Sunday’s night race. Such has been Red Bull’s dominance, the last time one of their drivers failed to win a race was in November 2022, when Mercedes’ George Russell won the Brazilian Grand Prix. Red Bull’s qualifying struggles opened the door for others on Sunday and it was Sainz who capitalized, claiming victory from pole position to end Red Bull’s hopes of winning every race this year. McLaren’s Lando Norris was second, while Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton was third, finishing over a second behind the Spaniard who celebrated his second win for Ferrari. “We nailed the race,” Sainz told reporters.

CNN —Max Verstappen helped Red Bull make history on Sunday as the Dutchman won the Hungarian Grand Prix with ease to secure his team a record 12th successive win. Red Bull have won every race this season (11) and, unsurprisingly, lead the constructors’ championship by a handsome margin – 208 points ahead of Mercedes in second. Including the win achieved on the final race of last season, the team surpasses McLaren’s long-standing record of 11 straight wins, set in 1988. Verstappen celebrates a seventh straight win.
