AdvertisementDesch, the astrophysicist from Arizona University, posted a critique of Loeb's work on arXiv alleging "multiple fatal flaws with the manuscript's arguments." Asked whether he no longer believes in a possible technological origin for the meteor, Loeb said they need to investigate further. As he plans more extravagant expeditions to prove the origin of the interstellar meteor, Loeb likens his critics to crows pecking at the neck of an eagle.

While poor affordability is dampening demand, buyers are still snapping up homes in some cities. Realtor.com recently listed 20 cities where demand is highest. In the December 21 report, Jones listed 20 cities where demand is picking up the most over last year. To create the list, Jones looked at the average number of viewers per listed property in individual cities relative to the national average. In her final list of 20 cities, houses in all locations saw higher visitor traffic than the national average, and all but Columbus, Ohio saw their median days on the market drop year-over-year.

A new study suggests that by 2035 some stations will need to provide as much power as a small town. As soon as 2030, a typical charging station's peak energy usage could rival that of a sports arena. By 2035, a larger installation serving both passenger cars and trucks could need to provide 19 megawatts of peak power, National Grid projects, roughly what a small town uses. Today's charging and gas stations aren't equipped to provide nearly the amount of power that National Grid expects will be needed by 2030, much less 2045. But building out charging infrastructure takes time, and it pays to get ahead of the curve, National Grid said.

A law set to go into effect in 2023 in Massachusetts would enable immigrants with non-legal status to obtain a driver’s license. The bill would eliminate a restriction that says a driver’s license cannot be issued unless a person has lawful presence in the United States. “This bill [HB 4805] also fails to include any measures to distinguish standard Massachusetts driver’s licenses issued to persons who demonstrate lawful presence from those who do not. Cecilia Calabrese, a Republican candidate for Massachusetts State Senate, wrote on Twitter: “Because in Massachusetts when you get a Driver’s License you are AUTOMATICALLY registered to vote! Unlawful voter registration and unlawful voting are both deportable offenses (see “falsely claiming citizenship” and “unlawful voters”) (here).
