Sean "Diddy" Combs has been indicted on criminal charges for what U.S. prosecutors called the music mogul's years-long orchestration of a sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. Combs, a rapper and producer who was a major figure in hip-hop in the 1990s and 2000s, faces three criminal charges including: racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution. According to the 14-page indictment, Combs turned his business empire into a criminal enterprise in which he and associates engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor and other crimes. Kelly was sentenced to a combined 31 years in prison after being convicted in New York in 2021 and Chicago in 2022 on charges including sex trafficking, racketeering and child sex crimes.

The latest research looked at a part of the brain called the olfactory bulb, which processes information about smell. Connecting the olfactory bulb and the nasal cavity is the olfactory nerve. Some researchers worry the olfactory pathway may also be an entry point for microplastics getting into the brain, beyond the olfactory bulb. Mauad and her team took samples of olfactory bulb tissue from 15 cadavers of people who died between the ages of 33 and 100. The presence of microplastics in the olfactory bulb doesn’t automatically mean there are microplastics elsewhere in the brain, such as regions related to cognition.

Social Security beneficiaries have seen higher cost-of-living adjustments in recent years, prompted by record high inflation. Based on new government inflation data, beneficiaries may see just a 2.5% increase to benefits in 2025, estimates Mary Johnson, an independent Social Security and Medicare analyst. In 2024, more than 71 million Americans — including Social Security and Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries — saw a 3.2% cost-of-living adjustment, according to the Social Security Administration. A spike in inflation drove the annual benefit boost even higher in 2023, when there was an 8.7% increase, the highest in four decades. In 2021, the cost-of-living adjustment was 1.3%.
