CNN —President Joe Biden will sit down with NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt for an interview that will tape and air next Monday, the network announced. Portions of the interview will first air Monday at 6:30 pm ET on NBC Nightly News. Last week, Biden sat down with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos for a 22-minute interview that drew in more than 8 million viewers. Biden has sat for the fewest number of television interviews as president since President Ronald Reagan, according to data from Professor Martha Joynt Kumar, a presidential scholar who tracks press interactions. The interview with Holt will be Biden’s sixth sit-down with a news network in 2024.

After Biden’s lackluster performance last week, some are questioning whether the White House press corps dropped the ball on fully covering Biden’s limitations. Nearly every media outlet has reported on growing concerns about Biden’s age well before the debate. Several White House reporters told CNN that the coverage of Biden’s age and his mental stamina should have pushed harder. The White House press shop has also been very “aggressive” and “fairly successful” in mitigating coverage of concerns over the president’s age, said another White House reporter who works for a different publication. “I think the press, most of the White House press, did suffer from a bit of lack of curiosity,” one of the reporters said.

Martha J. Egan has spent decades rummaging around markets and antique stores across Latin America in search of the rare, carefully crafted devotional pendants called relicarios. Her hunt has led her to amass more than 400 of the objects — pronounced reh-lee-CAR-yos; in English, reliquaries — and to write two books about what she has come to view as an overlooked genre within the body of religious art created during the Spanish colonization of the New World. Of course, “there was not much art in the colonial era that was not religious,” said Ms. Egan, 78, who has a bachelor’s degree in Latin American history. Typically, the pieces (sometimes called medallones or miniaturas) were pendants with painted, carved or printed depictions of favorite saints or the Virgin Mary on both sides, set in metal bezels under glass. Made for people in a range of social and economic classes, some relicarios were plain while others were elaborately decorated; their creators were usually anonymous.

“Irving made it possible for us to buy that work of art, pure and simple,” said Glenn D. Lowry, MoMA’s longtime director. Born Dec. 1, 1930, in New York, where his father owned furniture stores, Blum moved to Phoenix when he was 10. Blum met the collectors who came to visit galleries in the area. Blum came back with a painting by Josef Albers — a pioneer of color in abstract art — and he was on his way. Then in 1956 the gallerist David Herbert took Blum to meet Ellsworth Kelly.

Postal Service (USPS) has also said they would deliver ballots even if there was insufficient or unpaid postage. While Americans should pay for postage where required, at the time, USPS said it was their policy to deliver return ballots regardless of insufficient or unpaid postage. It is true that in Ohio, voters are responsible for paying for their mail-in ballot’s postage (here). In cases where a voter sends a ballot with insufficient postage, the cost of such missing postage would likely be absorbed by the relevant elections board. Economists from UCLA, Northwestern and Princeton universities found that pandemic trends, such as increased work flexibility, helped push up US birth rates last year to 6.2% from pre-pandemic levels, marking the first major reversal in declining fertility rates since 2007 and counteracting a longstanding economic certainty: Birth rates don’t increase during economic downturns. The baby bump was also pronounced among women aged 30 to 34 and those between the ages of 25 and 44 with a college degree. The latter group was more likely to retain their job during the pandemic and work from home. The pandemic helped to expose the critical role the child care industry serves in bolstering labor market participation. “The US has experienced declining fertility rates now for over a decade, and this has been a concern to many policymakers,” he said.
Amazon has said warehouse workers can take breaks for activities like using the bathroom, talking to coworkers and managers, and grabbing snacks. But the Amazon Labor Union, a new union led by current and former Amazon workers, said its Staten Island victory had energized other workers. U.S. President Joe Biden speaks to reporters as he departs for Boston from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, U.S., September 12, 2022. U.S. President Joe Biden's tendency to ad-lib in impromptu press situations is often referred to in Washington as his "gaffe" problem. After Biden spoke on defending Taiwan in a CBS News "60 Minutes" interview this month, officials quickly said that U.S. policy towards Taiwan is unchanged. His apparent willingness to commit U.S. forces to a battle in Taiwan clears up a long-standing disconnect in U.S. policy towards Taiwan. While Biden's off-the-cuff remarks sometimes reveal deeper truths about his policy or opinions, other times they are simply misleading.
