It is putting on hold its New York initial public offering because of a mismatch in valuation expectations, Reuters reported on Thursday. Most expensive Ferrari ever auctioned fetches $51.7 million

CNN —A 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO has sold for $51.705 million, becoming the most expensive car from the Italian manufacturer ever sold at auction. “Now, it ranks among the most expensive cars sold at auction, a true testament to its singular place in history,” he added. Only 39 examples of the 250 GTO were built by the legendary Italian marque between 1962 and 1964, and it’s extremely rare for an owner to part with one at any price. Renowned car collector David MacNeil, founder and CEO of automotive floor-mat company WeatherTech, bought chassis number 4153 GT for $70 million in 2018. “The Ferrari 250 GTO is the motoring market’s equivalent of Van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers’ and a talisman for any top-end collection,” said Knight.

SYDNEY, Sept 29 (Reuters) - The blocking of three major deals by Australia's antitrust regulator in the past year was a coincidence, its chair told Reuters, pushing back against concerns among bankers that it has become deal-averse. "There happens to have been a sequence, frankly coincidentally as it turns out, of oppositions," ACCC Chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb said in an interview. There are some concerns that it could be blocked as Brookfield owns AusNet, a poles and wires asset in Victoria state. Cass-Gottlieb also said she doubted foreign investors have been dissuaded from pursuing deals in Australia which does not require companies to get formal clearance before proceeding with a takeover. A 216 million pound cash call on Monday brings its total capital raised since 2018 to just under 1.8 billion pounds. By this year, Aston Martin will have grown revenue by 13% per annum since 2019, according to Refinitiv data, thanks to new models like the DB12 and higher prices. Aston’s current enterprise value is just under 2 times forecast 2024 sales, a discount to Porsche, and far below Ferrari’s (RACE.MI) more than 8 times multiple. Electric vehicles drove that change. In the first quarter of 2023, Russians purchased more Chinese cars than Lada, the beloved Soviet-era marque. That helps Chinese manufacturers churn out an electric vehicle for around 10,000 euros less than European competitors, according to Grant Thornton. Among the growing list of unwelcoming policies, the European Commission’s trade defence unit is considering ways to stem the tide of Chinese electric vehicle imports, according to Politico. "And we are also looking more intensively at how this is done in China," Duesmann said. "In 2030, the BEV share of the premium car market should already be between 60 and 70%, depending on the region," Duesmann said. That shift could happen even sooner in China, but Audi's sales performance in the world's biggest car market has fallen short of expectations. BYD and Great Wall feud portends potholes ahead

HONG KONG, May 25 (Reuters Breakingviews) - China’s Great Wall Motor (601633.SS) has made a rare public allegation that BYD’s (002594.SZ), (1211.HK) Qin Plus and Song Plus hybrid models do not meet emissions standards in the country. Thursday’s accusations sent BYD’s Hong Kong-listed shares down 5.4%, but the whistleblower’s own stock fell 7.3% by market close. BYD is currently the world’s best-selling electric-car marque per Bernstein, and it sold nearly 15,000 electric passenger cars outside China in the year to April. As for Great Wall, some 73,789 of its cars, representing nearly a quarter of its sales, were overseas in the same period. If the mud Great Wall slings ends up sticking, the global image of Chinese auto brands could get stained just as they expand into global markets.
Tesla is proposing to manufacture and sell vehicles in the country, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing a source. Import duties of as much as 100% made it difficult to gauge demand, so Tesla lobbied to reduce tariffs, rather than producing locally. Committing to a factory could work for Musk too, though justifying a Tesla-sized facility calls for fast and furious sales. When Tesla set up a Gigafactory in China in 2019, its sheer scale meant supply chains sprang up to serve it. Senior Tesla executives are in India this week to meet the government to discuss local sourcing of parts and other issues, Reuters reported on May 16.
