Major League Baseball and the Atlanta Braves have raised issues with the reorganization plan and future viability of Diamond Sports Group, the country's largest owner of regional sports networks, according to a Friday bankruptcy court filing. The filing noted that both MLB and the Braves have a vested interest in Diamond Sports succeeding with a reorganization plan, but they are not convinced that the one currently proposed is viable. Meanwhile, Diamond will seek approval of its reorganization plan from a U.S. bankruptcy judge on Thursday. The Friday objection does not mean that the Braves have turned away from Diamond for their regional media rights. On Friday, the Cincinnati Reds said they would exit their regional sport network owned by Diamond, according to a court filing.

CNN —Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani suffered a shoulder injury before the Dodgers’ 4-2 win over the New York Yankees in Game 2 of the World Series Saturday. The Japanese slugger sustained a left shoulder subluxation and will undergo more testing, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after the game, adding that the team is however “encouraged” about the injury. With the Dodgers up 4-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Ohtani attempted to steal second base but was thrown out to end the inning. Ohtani, however, stayed on the ground grimacing in pain and eventually walked off the field with trainers holding his left arm. Alex Slitz/Getty ImagesThough Ohtani has had an exceptional debut season with the Dodgers, the 30-year-old player has grappled with physical setbacks.

There was a time, though, when any Yankees player on his way to face the Dodgers could have walked. The ball Shohei Ohtani launched for his 50th home run of the season, having also stolen 50 bases, was bought at auction early Wednesday for more than $4.3 million. Ohtani, the Los Angeles Dodgers phenom, became the first player to reach the 50/50 milestone in a season in September, widely considered one of the greatest achievements in baseball history. New Jersey auction house Goldin said it was the highest price paid for a baseball — or any other ball — in history. It was one of three home runs he hit that night alone — his 51st season home run ball is also up for sale. Afterward, attention naturally turned to the fate of the ball, with collectors keen to own such a unique item.

Like many baseball stadiums around the country, Tropicana Field's geographic location makes it vulnerable to hurricane winds or tornado-force winds, hail, storm surge and flooding. NFL stadiums could experience $11 billion in climate-related losses by 2050, according to a new report released by the climate risk analysis company, Climate X. Climate X said it's a wake-up call for state and local governments. If you had a problem there yesterday, that doesn't mean that it's going to be there tomorrow," said Kamil Kluza, co-founder of Climate X. Diamond Sports — the owner of Bally Sports-branded regional sports networks — said Wednesday that it plans to drop all MLB teams from its channels except for the Atlanta Braves. A Diamond attorney made the comments before a U.S. bankruptcy judge on Wednesday as part of an update on the company's ongoing bankruptcy process and attempt at finalizing a reorganization plan. Some of those teams were already slated to see their contracts end this season, and some contracts are not being determined by the bankruptcy process, a Diamond spokesperson said. "To be clear, rejecting these teams is not our preferred path," Diamond attorney Andrew Goldman said on Wednesday. Goldman said Diamond had warned the league about this outcome in August, noting it was a possibility if the MLB rejected Diamond's latest proposal.

CNN —An 18-year-old has filed a lawsuit over the ownership of the ball Shohei Ohtani made baseball history with when he became the inaugural member of the 50-50 club. The ball had been put up for auction by auctioneers Goldin, with bids starting at $500,000 and collectors able to purchase it privately outright for $4.5 million. Both Belanski and Kelvin Ramirez indicated on social media that they intended to sell the ball, per the filing. In December 2002, a San Francisco judge ordered the two men to sell the ball and split the proceeds. The ball was eventually sold to comic book creator and producer Todd McFarlane who paid $450,000 for it.

CNN —The ball that made Shohei Ohtani the inaugural member of the 50-50 club and placed him firmly in the history books (again) is up for sale – and could be yours for a mere $4.5 million. The outing was the first three-homer game as well as the first 10-RBI game of Ohtani’s career. The ball from the game is now going up for auction, with bids starting at $500,000 – but keen collectors can purchase it privately for $4.5 million. Two-time AL MVP Ohtani is the first and only member of the impressive 50-50 club – though some fans are hoping he could make it to 60-60. Ohtani has since extended his mark to 53 home runs and 56 stolen bases, with four games of the regular season remaining.
