Founders of women's health startups feel doubly invested in this election, one of the closest presidential races of the century. They said another Trump victory creates uncertainty for reproductive health startups, from period trackers to online abortion clinics to embryo banks. For startup Julie, the legal status of emergency contraception is the "million dollar question of this election," said Amanda E/J Morrison. Trump's waffling on reproductive rights has put founders of women's health startups on notice. For some founders of women's health startups, this election is more than a political contest; it has ramifications for their livelihoods.

Two years later, abortion rights remain a major issue in the 2024 election. Vice President Kamala Harris has taken the lead in the Biden campaign's push to highlight abortion rights on the campaign trail. The Senate filibuster requires a de facto 60-vote majority for legislation that would enshrine nationwide abortion rights protection into law. AdvertisementSome legal experts have also questioned whether Congress has the power to guarantee abortion access. Project 2025, an unofficial partnership of right-wing think tanks, has outlined an ambitious series of plans to curtail abortion rights if Trump wins in November.

CNN —Kehinde Wiley, the American artist best known for painting former US President Barack Obama’s official portrait, has denied accusations of sexual assault. In an Instagram post shared Sunday, British-Ghanaian artist and curator Joseph Awuah-Darko alleged Wiley sexually assaulted him twice in 2021. Awuah-Darko said the first incident occurred on June 9, 2021, at a dinner held at the Noldor Artist Residency in Ghana, to celebrate Wiley’s work. In Sunday’s Instagram post, he wrote that reporting the assault in Ghana “would have been problematic at best — dangerous at worst,” given the country’s broader attitudes towards LGBTQ people. Wiley rose to international fame in 2017, when he was chosen to paint Obama’s official portrait for the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.

Protect Social Security!" In 1983, when the last major Social Security reforms were enacted, there were no benefit enhancements, Larson argued. Today, annual earnings of up to $168,600 are subject to a 6.2% payroll tax toward Social Security paid by both workers and employers. Larson's plan also calls for closing loopholes that allow wealthy taxpayers to avoid paying Social Security taxes on other income. Larson said the public is well aware that Social Security benefits are theirs and they've paid for them.

The steel frame of the Francis Scott Key Bridge sits on top of the container ship Dali after the bridge collapsed on Tuesday. After the 1980 collision, he argued, more substantial dolphins or a fendering system should have been added to the Key Bridge. “You knock out one of the support posts, the entire bridge collapses.”The Key Bridge is hardly unique among large bridges in its age. Some other bridges that cross major shipping routes are designed with more extensive protections than the Key Bridge’s. In the wake of the Key Bridge collapse and with the rise of larger container ships, some experts said that engineers should reassess necessary bridge safety features.

For decades, America has followed Oprah through every major weight loss trend, and this was no exception. She later deeply regretted such a stunt, calling it a “Big, big, big, big, big, big, big mistake!”In 1994, Oprah ran her first marathon to celebrate her 40th birthday. It raised questions about Oprah taking medical weight loss drugs such as Ozempic or Wegovy. She later deeply regretted such a stunt, calling it a “Big, big, big, big, big, big, big mistake!” Charles Bennet/APWith Oprah stepping down, many people will lose their measure or point of reference for what is ahead or behind the curve as it relates to their weight and health. One might also ask what it means for the nation’s preeminent Black history museum to be economically tethered to a weight loss company.

Fullerton, Wilson and two other officers were charged in connection with 18-year-old Nicholas Feliciano's suicide attempt at the Rikers Island jail complex on Nov. 27, 2019. Prosecutors said jail guards were seen on surveillance video walking past Feliciano and taking no action for seven minutes and 51 seconds. An investigation report by the city Board of Correction later found that the officers believed Feliciano was faking a suicide attempt. David Rankin, a lawyer for Feliciano's family, said they are “gratified” that the two guards took responsibility in pleading guilty. The Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association has called the officers' indictments politically motivated and called on prosecutors to charge inmates who assault guards.

At the same time, Murdoch denied that Fox Corporation itself endorsed these false claims. Dominion sued Fox News Network along with its parent company, Fox Corporation, in March 2021, also including Bartiromo, Pirro, and Dobbs as defendants.
