Over three years after the accidental on-set death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, Alec Baldwin's Western film “Rust” received a polite response during its controversial premiere Wednesday at the EnergaCamerimage festival in Toruń, Poland. The audience clapped through the film’s closing credits, strengthening their applause when a dedication to Hutchins appeared. The premiere opened with Camerimage director Marek Żydowicz asking the audience to stand for a moment of silence for Hutchins. Cinematographer Rachel Mason, Hutchins’ friend who made a documentary about the completion of the film, then made an emotional speech. Additionally, AFI launched the Halyna Hutchins Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Three years after the fatal shooting on the set of "Rust," the film is set to make its world premiere at the Camerimage Festival in Poland next month. During the production of the western film in October 2021, star Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Since the shooting, the film and Baldwin have been ensnared in legal proceedings. The Camerimage festival in Toruń, Poland, is centered around the art of cinematography. "During the festival, we honored Halyna's memory with a moment of silence and a panel of cinematographers discussed safety on set.
