Missouri is set Tuesday to execute Marcellus Williams, a death row inmate whose case has spurred several efforts to save his life amid doubts about the evidence presented at his 2001 murder trial and the actions of a trial lawyer in the case. ST. LOUIS (AP) — A Missouri prosecutor now believes that inmate Marcellus Williams is innocent of the crime that landed him on death row and very nearly cost him his life, and he is seeking to overturn Williams' conviction. Gayle, a social worker and one-time St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter, was killed at her home in 1998. Williams’ girlfriend asked him why he would wear a jacket on such a hot day. They cited testimony from Henry Cole, who shared a St. Louis cell with Williams in 1999 while Williams was jailed on unrelated charges. Last February, a St. Louis judge overturned the conviction of Lamar Johnson, who spent nearly 28 years in prison for a killing he always said he didn't commit.

The NSE Nifty 50 index (.NSEI) rose as much as 0.52% to 20,238.45, a new record high, while the S&P BSE Sensex (.BSESN) was up 0.44% at 67,286.16, as of 9:35 a.m. IST. BENGALURU, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold Indian equities worth 245.48 billion rupees ($2.95 billion) in the month of October, the most in nine months, data from the National Securities Depository (NSDL) showed. WHAT FPIs SOLD IN OCTOBERFinancials witnessed the most FPI selling in October to the tune of 118.04 billion rupees. FPIs had bought shares worth 555.79 billion rupees in the sector between April and July. The White House calls clean hydrogen “essential to achieving the president’s vision of a strong clean energy economy" and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. by 2050. Some environmentalists call hydrogen a false solution because it frequently relies on natural gas or other fossil fuels as feedstocks.
