BAMAKO, Mali Reuters —Mali’s Prime Minister Choguel Maiga has been fired, state television ORTM said on Wednesday of the civilian who criticized the ruling junta’s failure to organize elections within a promised 24-month transition back to democracy. “It’s all happening in total secrecy, without the prime minister’s knowledge,” Maiga told reporters on Saturday. His comments sparked tensions with the junta, forcing it to postpone a ministerial council meeting planned for Wednesday, a source close to Maiga told Reuters. Maiga had fervently defended Mali’s junta as West African neighbors and international allies criticized its military cooperation with Russian mercenaries and repeated election delays. Before being named prime minister in 2021, Maiga served as Mali’s commerce minister under former President Amadou Toumani Toure and as digital economy minister under former President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita.

"I thought the car was trying to kill me," said one man, whose car tried to accelerate to 100 miles-per-hour. In a statement sent to Insider, Volkswagen noted that the adaptive cruise control system is "certainly not designed to create a fully autonomous vehicle nor supersede the responsibility of the driver." According to Volkswagen's website, adaptive cruise control works with front assist's radar sensors which detect if you're too close to a vehicle in front. ACC also uses front and rear cameras, as well as GPS information, to work out the road's speed limit.

The US Army is changing the name of its new rifle after accidentally taking a name from another gun. The light machine gun set to replace the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, or SAW, the M250, will not change. "The Army originally chose the designation XM5 as the name of the new rifle in March," a service spokesperson said in a statement. The 6.8mm was seen as a compromise between the light ammo currently used and the 7.62mm ammo used in the M240B machine gun that would be very heavy for a standard rifleman. Soldiers will also use 20-round magazines, a 10-round decrease from the magazines the Army has been using for decades.

Tragedie pe o șosea din Rusia. Șoferul unui TIR cu numere de înmatriculare din Moldova a murit, strivit sub roțile vehiculului pe care îl conducea, în timp ce schimba o roată. Șoferul camionului ar fi oprit pe acostament pentru a schimba o roată, care s-a defectat în timpul mersului. Utilajul care ținea autocamionul ar fi cedat, iar vehiculul de mare tonaj l-a strivit pe bărbat. Alți conducători auto au oprit pentru a vedea ce s-a întâmplat și au constatat că vehiculul care a strivit bărbatul are numere de înmatriculare din Republica Moldova, prin urmare, cel mai probabil, conducătorul auto la fel, este moldovean.
