Combined with rainfall from Wednesday, a potentially record-breaking 16 inches or more of rainfall is possible through Thursday. This low is expected to “bomb out” or undergo “bombogenesis,” which is the decrease in pressure of 24 millibars in 24 hours. Even without making landfall, bomb cyclones can be deadlyAlthough the first storm never made landfall, historic bomb cyclones can still bring devastating effects. At least two people were killed in Washington state from strong winds that pushed down fallen trees.

On March 4, Judge Tanya Chutkan presided over jury selection for a criminal trial in a Jan. 6, 2021, case. On his first day in court, Mr. Nester sat next to his attorney wearing a collared shirt and a tie, his glasses perched atop his gray hair. He glumly surveyed the potential jurors seated in the benches behind him, 12 of whom would later that week determine his fate. Mr. Trump, whose criminal trial has been put on hold pending Supreme Court review, spent that week on the campaign trail. Mr. Nester is the among the latest in a long string of Jan. 6 insurrectionists who have over the past three and a half years sat for trial in the E. Barrett Prettyman U.S.

Rite Aid filed plans to close 154 stores on Monday as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Rite Aid is the smallest of the three major drugstore chains, well behind CVS and Walgreens. Rite Aid was expected to close stores as part of its bankruptcy. "We will also strive to transfer associates to other Rite Aid locations where possible," the company said.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea says it plans to expel a U.S. soldier who crossed into the country in July. Other Americans have entered North Korea over the years, including a few U.S. soldiers. Five months later, North Korea announced it was expelling Lowrance who had entered the country illegally through China. While North Korea officially guarantees freedom of religion, analysts and defectors describe the country as strictly anti-religious. In 2009, American missionary Robert Park walked into North Korea with a Bible in his hand to draw attention to North Korea’s human rights abuses.

Burglars made off with more than 400 iPhones from an Apple store in Washington, police said. They got into the store by cutting a hole in the bathroom wall of a neighboring store, police said. Marks told the station the burglars had cut a 24-inch-by-18-inch hole in the wall to access the back room of the Apple store. Calls to the Lynnwood Apple Store and Seattle Coffee Gear were unanswered. On Friday, Lynnwood police told Insider that no arrests had been made and no fingerprints had been found.
Costco's food court is known for cheap fast-food staples such as $1.50 all-beef hot dogs. But some are balking at the price of the $9.99 roast beef sandwich. Many hard-core warehouse fans complained it was too expensive for Costco's food court, known for cheap fast-food staples such as $1.50 all-beef hot dogs and $10 whole pizzas. It is made with sliced roast beef, onion relish, a mayonnaise and mustard blend, lettuce, and roasted cherry tomatoes and served on a hoagie-style roll. When asked about the status of the roast beef sandwich, a food court worker answering the phone at the Lynnwood warehouse said 29 were left.

A Washington state man who called Buffalo, New York, grocery stores threatening to shoot Black people a month after a racist mass shooting pleaded guilty to a hate crime Monday, prosecutors said. George called multiple grocery stores on June 19, June 20 and June 21 and threatened to shoot Black customers, the U.S. attorney’s office for Western Washington said in a statement. George pleaded guilty Monday to a count of interstate threats and a count of interference with a federally protected activity, which is a hate crime, prosecutors said. In the calls to the Buffalo stores, George said he was nearby and had assault rifles, and he threatened to shoot Black people, according to a plea agreement. In one of the calls, George said he could "pick people off" from a parking lot.
