President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday named Linda McMahon, a former World Wrestling Entertainment executive who served in the first Trump administration, as his pick to lead the Education Department. Before joining the first Trump administration, McMahon briefly served on the Connecticut State Board of Education in 2009, and made unsuccessful bids in 2010 and 2012 for U.S. Senate seats in the state. CNN first reported on McMahon as Trump’s pick for education secretary. McMahon is also the latest Cabinet pick from Trump’s transition team. CNN —Trump transition co-chair Linda McMahon is expected to be named as secretary of the Department of Education, four sources familiar with the matter told CNN. The decision took shape after it became clear that McMahon would be passed over for Commerce secretary. Representatives from Trump’s team met with federal agency transition planners last week to discuss “post-election readiness,” according to a White House official. GSA “is prepared to provide services to the Trump transition team once an MOU is executed and services are accepted,” a GSA spokesperson said. The federal transition coordinator, a White House spokesperson told CNN, is “actively working” with the president-elect’s transition team to complete its MOU. Trump’s transition team also has not met that deadline. The Agency Transition Directors Council, co-chaired by OMB deputy director Jason Miller and the GSA’s federal transition coordinator, Aimee Whiteman, began meeting monthly with career representatives from each agency.

GOP senators and top aides say the race could go either way. Scott, who is a McConnell critic, has been more willing to fall in line with Trump than Cornyn or Thune over the last several years. Both Thune and Cornyn are closely politically aligned with the longtime GOP leader. Asked if he would like to get more public endorsements from GOP senators, Thune said he is not asking anyone to do that. Vince McMahon and the WWE have been accused of knowing about and failing to stop the sexual exploitation of young boys by a ringside announcer, in a lawsuit filed on behalf of five alleged victims Wednesday. NBC News has contacted the McMahons, TKO and the WWE for comment; none have so far responded or commented on the case publicly. The suit alleges that Phillips would abuse the claimants in his dressing room while filming it with a video camera. The suit accuses the McMahons of long knowing of Phillips’ “peculiar and unnatural interest” in young boys. "Thanks to the bravery of our clients, we finally have a chance to hold accountable those who allowed and enabled the open, rampant sexual abuse of these young boys," he said.

Baltimore CNN —A new lawsuit alleges Vince McMahon knowingly enabled the sexual exploitation of children by a WWE employee in the 1980s. As early as 1992, New York Post columnist Phil Mushnick wrote about Phillips’ alleged abuse of Ring Boys at the WWE. The lawsuit alleges McMahon was aware of Phillips’ abuse of the children. Phillips would often film his sexual abuse of the underage Ring Boys on video camera, the lawsuit alleges. WWE founder Vince McMahon resigned from the WWE and its parent company TKO as executive chairman and board of directors following allegations of sexual assault in a Connecticut lawsuit.

Covington and Burling LLP, the law firm where former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder works, will help the transition team get set up. Abraham's appointment comes as the General Services Administration prepares to engage the Harris and Trump campaigns in the presidential transition process.
