An NYPD officer and another woman were shot in Queens by an armed robbery suspect who was believed to be responsible for multiple robberies within the span of just about an hour, according to police. As police searched for the suspect, officers were flagged down by a witness who pointed out a man on Jamaica Avenue and 160th Street. The witness told police the man had just robbed a smoke shop on Guy Brewer Boulevard, and fired a shot while doing so, according to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joe Kenny. After being ordered to drop his weapon, the suspect fired once, hitting Officer Rich Wong in the thigh, Kenny said at a press conference from the hospital. Worthy, who had been arrested for seven crimes since 2001, was also wanted for three other robberies at gunpoint, according to police.

In 2023, Americans spent about $17.7 billion on out-of-home cold coffee including iced coffee, cold brew and frozen coffee drinks. Giants like Starbucks have played a major role in iced drinks taking share from more traditional hot coffee. 45% of coffee drinkers ages 18 to 24 said they had a cold coffee in the past day according to a survey conducted in July 2024 by the National Coffee Association. Cold coffee drinks are highly customizable, with syrups, toppings and cold foam incorporated into many of the popular offerings at major coffeehouse chains. Craig Melvin will replace Hoda Kotb after the beloved co-anchor announced in September that she was leaving “TODAY” after nearly two decades. Melvin, a news anchor of “TODAY” and a co-host of the 3rd hour of “TODAY,” made the announcement on the show Thursday morning. He will co-anchor alongside Savannah Guthrie for the 7 and 8 a.m. hours beginning Jan. 13. “You are the right person for it.”Kotb will remain as co-anchor until Jan. 10, calling it a "party day." Melvin went on to call Kotb and Guthrie his "sisters."

CNN —Nicole Kidman has worked with some amazing directors, but there’s one she has not. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the Oscar-winning actress was asked about her AFI Lifetime Achievement Award’s speech in which she listed some of the filmmakers she’s worked with. “Is there anyone you have your eye on who you haven’t worked with and want to?” Kidman was asked in her interview. “I’ve always said I want to work with [Martin] Scorsese, if he does a film with women,” Kidman said. Kidman rounded her list out in the interview by mentioning her desire to work with directors Kathryn Bigelow, Spike Jonze, Paul Thomas Anderson and Michael Haneke.
