Pivotal Peptides says it offers research grade tirzepatide, while MangoRx sells a compounded version, both online. Lilly has accused Pivotal Peptides of selling products claiming to contain tirzepatide directly to patients without any prescription from a medical professional, despite advertising the drugs for research purposes. Lilly said it sent a cease and desist letter to Pivotal Peptides before filing the lawsuit. Eli Lilly is seeking court orders barring the vendors from selling their drugs claiming to contain tirzepatide and unspecified monetary damages.

CNN —Following the MIND diet for 10 years produced a small but significant decrease in the risk of developing thinking, concentration and memory problems, a new study found. The MIND diet was specifically designed to combat cognitive decline, said lead study author Dr. Russell Sawyer, an assistant professor of clinical neurology and rehabilitation medicine at the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute. Each increase in the adherence to the Mediterranean diet extended life for women, the new study found. In all that data, however, are few details on the specific ways the Mediterranean diet may affect women, especially long-term. “What might be worth noting is that the adherence measure ‘corrects’ for distortions of the Mediterranean diet,” Katz said.

CNN —The traditional diet of northern Portugal and northwestern Spain, known as the Southern European Traditional Atlantic Diet, or Atlantic diet for short, may hold some clues to better heart health and a lower risk of dying early from cancer, heart disease or any cause, according to studies conducted in Europe. The diet is based on foods grown or found in that part of the Europe, much like its famous cousin the Mediterranean diet. Because it’s plant-based and locally sourced, the Atlantic diet also helps protect the planet by contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, the study’s authors noted. Like the Mediterranean diet, the Atlantic diet focuses on home-cooked food served family style, with an emphasis on social interactions between friends and family. However, other studies have shown that not all food groups in the traditional Atlantic diet are beneficial.

CNN —Eating greater amounts of ultraprocessed food and drinks, especially if those items are artificially sweetened, may be linked to the development of depression, according to a new study. Ultraprocessed foods include hot dogs, sausages, French fries, sodas, store-bought cookies, cakes, candies, ice cream and many foods containing artificial sweeteners. For one, there is a known link between ultraprocessed foods and chronic inflammation, Chan said. For example, studies have linked ultraprocessed foods colorectal cancer in men and heart disease and early death in both men and women. By choosing ultraprocessed and sugary snacks, 1 in 4 of us may be undoing all the benefits of healthy eating, according to a new study. More than 90% of adults in the United States report eating one or more snacks on any given day. In the United Kingdom, where the study was done, some 47% of participants ate two snacks a day and 29% of people snacked even more often. Over 25% of the study participants reported eating healthy main meals and snacking on highly processed food and sugary treats that can increase hunger, the study found. CNN —Walking a minimum of 4,000 steps a day significantly reduces your risk of an early death, while taking 2,337 steps a day will reduce your risk of death specifically from cardiovascular disease but “more is better,” according to a new meta-analysis of studies. Anything below 5,000 steps a day is considered a “sedentary lifestyle,” according to the study. While approximately 4,000 steps a day was associated with a “significant” reduction in the risk of an early death, the biggest impact on risk occurred when people walked more than 7,000 steps a day, with the most benefit occurring at about 20,000 steps, the study found. Start early and keep it upAdults 60 and older who walked between 6,000 and 10,000 steps a day saw a 42% reduction in risk of early death, while people under 60 who walked between 7,000 and 13,000 steps a day had a 49% reduction in risk, he said. The difference is likely explained by the formula, “the earlier, the better,” Banach said.

The DASH diet has been shown to reduce blood pressure and is the American Heart Association’s top diet.
