Photo: pool/ReutersNEW YORK—Trial proceedings in Donald Trump’s civil-fraud trial took a surprise turn Wednesday when the presiding judge called the former president to the witness stand to answer for comments he made in a courthouse hallway—and then fined him $10,000.
The dust-up came during the second day of testimony by Michael Cohen , Trump’s former lawyer and fixer who is now a lead witness for New York state Attorney General Letitia James .
During a break in the proceedings, Trump in the hallway accused the judge, New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron , and the person “sitting alongside of him” of being partisan.
