New York CNN —Egg prices have risen steadily over the past two years. Egg prices at the grocery store were up 30.4% in October from the year prior, according to the consumer-price index. Increased demand from holiday cooking makes egg prices even more volatile. Avian flu, which is spread through wild birds, has been plaguing farmers and egg supply since January 2022. “Our egg prices really ride the waves associated with high influenza,” said Bernt Nelson, an economist with the American Farm Bureau Federation.

While exploring the wonders of the human mind, Dr. Wolf and his team of young interns must grapple with their own mental health. Quinto had just come off making his West End debut in a play about the political debates between Gore Vidal and William F. Buckley Jr. “A big part of this season’s story is Dr. Wolf starting to live his life, and what that might look like romantically is an interesting question as well.”Zachary Quinto in "Brilliant Minds." Quinto was staggered to learn of Rodemeyer’s death and said he was forced to confront his own hypocrisy. “The legacy of storytelling with him, my connection to him, and the fact that he’s a part of this show is really, really moving and meaningful to me.”For more from NBC Out, sign up for our weekly newsletter.

But the Newcomers Football Club, an impromptu team made up of asylum-seekers, has helped provide him with a joy that erases his stress. And they were looking for a place to play soccer – an almost universal cornerstone of their daily routines back home. Leonard had never worked with refugees or asylum-seekers before, and he had never played soccer. In the months since, the ad-hoc project has ballooned from an informal pick-up game to an organized club that competes with other New York teams, joining forces with another similar project started by co-organizer Avram Kline. The mixed practices help Newcomers FC members meet new people and practice their English, Leonard says.

New York CNN —Restaurant chain Panera Bread has faced three separate lawsuits in recent months claiming the high levels of caffeine in its Charged Lemonade led to the death of two customers and irreversible health complications in another. Lawsuits claim advertising was unclearBoth wrongful death suits allege the Charged Lemonade does not clearly advertise its high levels of caffeine , and does not provide a warning to customers. A large-size Charged Lemonade, which comes in a 30-oz cup, contains up to 236 mg of caffeine. Similarly, the second lawsuit, filed in December by the family of a 46-year-old man with a chromosomal deficiency disorder, ADHD and high blood pressure, claimed that the product was not properly labeled. The product description on the individual pages for each lemonade flavor now reads: “Contains caffeine.

Soon after the class was over, a “mass of police sirens” shattered the peace as officers raced toward the venue where the class was being held. Well, for Duke quarterback Riley Leonard, he found out that is not the case. On Monday night, Leonard played a starring role in helping the unfancied Duke Blue Devils topple No. In a video posted on social media after the game, Leonard requested an extension to homework which was due in on the day of the game. Donald H. Taylor, professor in the Sanford School of Public Policy, responded to Leonard’s request with a congratulatory message before explaining his reasoning. “Wesley Williams and the other linemen who were in the class, they said they prepared ahead and did it ahead of time, so why didn’t the quarterback?” Taylor said.

Stew Leonard Sr., a folkloric retailer who expanded his namesake stores into merchandising meccas replete with petting zoos and mechanical singing farm animals, died on Wednesday at a hospital in Manhattan. Mr. Leonard opened his original store in Norwalk, Conn., in 1969 as a destination that promised fresh milk because it was built around a bottling plant. “You’d have to own a cow to get it sooner,” his advertisements proclaimed. Bryan Miller described it in The New York Times as the “Disneyland of Dairy Stores”; “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” called it the “World’s Largest Dairy Store”; and it earned a place in the Guinness World Records for having the highest dollar sales per square foot of selling space. In 2015, Business Insider praised Kroger’s customer loyalty program and Wegmans’s walk-in beer locker, but it concluded that anyone who had ever set foot in Stew Leonard’s “knows it is miles above the rest.”
For most consumers, price breaks on their groceries come as welcome relief given that store food prices overall have surged 12.4% through October versus a year ago. In fresh produce, the average unit price for prepared mixed vegetables from July to September (the latest data available) dropped 68% versus the same period last year. In fruits, the average unit price is down 1.8% for tangerines and has declined 7% for dates in the same three-month period. A lot of fresh seafood options are cheaper as well: the average unit price for striped bass fell 41.8% (July through September) over the prior year. “You’re are seeing a little bit of an increase in turkey [prices] but you are also seeing a little bit of reduction in chicken.
