But, for Murray, the Olympic Games have always held a special place in his heart. Back in 2012, just weeks after a heartbreaking defeat in the Wimbledon final, Murray won gold in the men’s singles tournament at the London Games. 1 in 2016, a year where he also won Wimbledon for second time. During his third-round match at the French Open, Australian tennis player Thanasi Kokkinakis was left dumbfounded after seemingly being refused a toilet break by the umpire. After losing the second set, Kokkinakis – who had taken a toilet break after the first set – approached chair umpire Katarzyna Radwan-Cho. “F**king sh*t, we get two for a match,” he added, referencing the number of toilet breaks permitted in five setters. “You have to sprint, but the problem is on [court] Simonne-Mathieu the bathrooms just aren’t quite as close as they are on Chatrier and Lenglen. “You can see his frustration because he’s trying to get there as fast as possible, but it’s just physically not going to happen … but at least it didn’t happen on court.”​

CNN —Britain’s Emma Raducanu suffered another agonizing defeat, after being knocked out in the first round of the Stuttgart Open on Tuesday. Jelena Ostapenko took less than an hour to thrash Raducanu 6-2, 6-1 in straight sets at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. “It’s never easy playing Emma,” the Latvian, the 2017 French Open champion, told reporters. Raducanu suffered an ankle injury before the Australian Open earlier this year, while tonsillitis forced her to withdraw from the Austin Open in February. “Emma’s level is there for sure,” Robson told Eurosport.
