A woman died on Saturday after backing into plane's propeller while trying to take a picture at an airfield in Kansas, officials said. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said the woman was critically injured in the incident and later died at the hospital, according to NBC News affiliate KSNW. The woman was identified by the sheriff's office as 37-year-old Amanda Gallagher of Wichita, Kansas. The sheriff's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from NBC News on Monday. Boeing has started certification flight testing of its long-delayed 777-9 with U.S. aviation regulators onboard, the U.S. planemaker said in an emailed statement. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment out of office hours. Type inspection authorization is typically associated with the start of the certification process, made after the FAA has examined technical data. The milestone allows FAA pilots to participate in flight testing needed to certify the plane for normal operation. Boeing has said that the 777-9 test fleet will undergo the most thorough commercial flight test effort the planemaker has ever undertaken.
