Samsung has issued a recall for over 1 million slide-in electric ranges due to fire hazard after the company received reports that its front knobs could be unintentionally activated by people or pets, and resulted in 250 blazes. Since 2013, Samsung received over 300 reports of the "unintentional activation" of the range's front-mounted knobs by humans or pets. Samsung is offering free knob locks or knob covers as a remedy to the issue. Further, some Samsung ranges with Wi-Fi connectivity can send users a notification via the Samsung SmartThings app to warn when a burner is activated. The company is also participating in a CPSC “Joint Gas and Electric Range Knob Working Group” along with other major brands to improve knob safety standards.

New York CNN —Samsung is recalling knobs on some of its electric stoves, warning that fires can be set off if pets — or even humans — bump into them. Several videos have shown pets accidentally igniting fires from jumping onto stoves and pawing at the knobs. Samsung will provide free knob locks or covers for certain slide-in electric ranges with front-mounted knobs that were sold between 2013 and 2024. The automotive company Kia issued a recall on Friday of certain Telluride SUVs from the years 2020 through 2024 and urged the owners of the vehicles to park outside and away from structures because of a fire risk, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. The issue stems from the front power seat motor, which can overheat “because of a stuck power seat slide knob, potentially resulting in a fire and increasing the risk of injury,” the NHTSA said in a statement. “To fix the issue, dealers will install a bracket for the power seat switch back covers and replace the seat slide knobs, free of charge,” the statement said. Kia recommended that drivers park outside until repairs were completed. About 460,000 vehicles could be affected by the recall, according to the NHTSA, and notices informing owners of affected Tellurides are expected to be mailed beginning July 30.

NEW YORK – Hyundai's Genesis is previewing the future of the growingly prominent luxury brand with a new large all-electric concept vehicle called the Neolun. The full-size SUV features a sleek exterior design illuminated by long horizontal headlights and taillights reminiscent of the brand's current EVs, though more modern. The SUV features a large central screen with physical buttons below it and a control panel and knob to the right of the driver.
