CNN —A man was killed and three other people were injured after a hand grenade accidentally exploded at a house party in Croatia Saturday, authorities said. The 25-year-old died after another man, also aged 25, handed him the Yugoslavia-era weapon during the party in the city of Knin, police said. “Due to improper handling, the grenade accidentally detonated in the hands of the deceased 25-year-old,” the police said in a statement, according to CNN affiliate N1. A large number of weapons ended up in private hands in Croatia following the country’s War of Independence between 1991 and 1995. Police in the Sibenik-Knin region, where Saturday’s incident occurred, said more than 5,000 items have been handed to authorities in the region this year alone.

Discussions on the takeover by Kuehne are quite advanced, but no decision has been made, German newspaper Handelsblatt reported, citing a source. Signa, owner of New York's Chrysler Building and Britain's Selfridges store, and spokespeople for Kuehne and the city of Hamburg did not respond to requests for comment on Sunday. This led to the insolvency of its subsidiary Signa Real Estate Management Germany on Friday, Spiegel magazine reported.

ZURICH, April 11 (Reuters) - German logistics entrepreneur Klaus-Michael Kuehne has increased his stake in Germany's flag carrier Lufthansa (LHAG.DE) to 10%, Kuehne Holding AG said in a statement on Monday. Kuehne, 84, had earlier boosted his stake in Lufthansa to 5% about a month ago, becoming the airline's second-biggest shareholder behind the German government, according to Refinitiv data. Kuehne Holding AG has acquired a stake of 10% in Deutsche Lufthansa AG on the market via a wholly owned German subsidiary, the holding company owned by Klaus-Michael Kuehne said. "The investment in Deutsche Lufthansa represents an excellent rounding off of the existing portfolio, in which logistical knowhow is bundled through various independent holdings," Kuehne was quoted as saying in the statement. The German billionaire is also the controlling shareholder of Swiss logistics firm Kuehne & Nagel (KNIN.S) and has a 30% stake in container shipping company Hapag-Lloyd AG (HLAG.DE).
