The Many Links Between Project 2025 and Trump’s WorldFormer president Donald J. Trump has repeatedly claimed that he had nothing to do with Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation’s conservative policy initiative to reshape the federal government. But Project 2025 has numerous ties to Mr. Trump and his campaign, a New York Times analysis has found. L. ZorcJump to the full list of authors, editors and contributorsSpokespeople for Project 2025 have denied that they are advocates for any particular candidate, and Project 2025 has no official ties to the Trump campaign. To limit the appearance of connection, Mr. Trump’s transition team has been excluding prominent people linked to Project 2025 from its preparations. Project 2025 additionally calls for the dismantling of the federal Education Department, which Mr. Trump has also pledged to do.

The country’s new reformist President Masoud Pezeshkian campaigned on a promise to halt the harassment of women by morality police. In Iran, the hijab — and the all-encompassing black chador worn by some — has long been a political symbol as well. There have been scattered videos of women and young girls being roughed up by officers in the time since. Surveillance cameras search for women uncovered in vehicles to fine and impound their cars. The government has gone as far as use aerial drones to monitor the 2024 Tehran International Book Fair and Kish Island for uncovered women, the U.N. said.

And they were everywhere, although, naturally, New York City was a magnet, as it has always been for L.G.B.T.Q.+ people looking for a place in which they can be themselves. New York City was where you lost your soul, and we wanted to be closer to the earth. I wore an eight-and-a-half-foot-tall Statue of Liberty costume to the Easter Parade in New York City, and Kirsten came along with me. By the time I turned 30, I’d been telling people I was older for years, because I’m not the type to bemoan the loss of my youth. Going to New York felt like this moment of emerging to a wider audience, and then I started to travel a lot.

At 30,000 square feet, Amazon Style is smaller than traditional department stores, but offers "more than double the number of styles," according to a press release. Amazon is shuttering its brick-and-mortar apparel stores almost a year and a half after opening the first location, the company confirmed, marking the latest shift in its physical retail strategy. The company said it will close its two Amazon Style stores in Columbus, Ohio, and Glendale, California, by Nov. 9. "Physical retail remains an important part of our business, and we're continuing to invest in growing our grocery stores business, which spans Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, Amazon Go, and third-party partnerships." It represented the company's first foray into hawking clothes, shoes and accessories in the offline world, and its latest attempt at cracking physical retail.

The company said Thursday that it will close both of its “Amazon Style” stores located in Los Angeles and Columbus, Ohio, making it the latest brick-and-mortar business abandoned by Amazon. Amazon opened the first Amazon Style store last year at The Americana at Brand, a mall in Glendale, California. Earlier this year, Amazon said it was shutting down some Amazon Fresh and Go stores that weren’t living up to their promise. “Physical retail remains an important part of our business, and we’re continuing to invest in growing our grocery stores business, which spans Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, Amazon Go, and third-party partnerships,” spokesperson Kristen Kish said. In August, the company showed off two redesigned Amazon Fresh stores in Illinois that it says will provide more product selections, low prices on more items and greater convenience during checkout.

Siamak Namazi, left, a U.S. citizen who has been held prisoner in Iran for nearly eight years, with his father, Baquer Namazi. The U.S. government has identified three American citizens held in Iran — Siamak Namazi, Emad Shargi and Morad Tahbaz. NBC News first reported on the prisoner exchange negotiations in February. The families of the Americans held in Iran say their loved ones are "hostages" taken captive on false charges and used as bargaining chips by the government. And Siamak Namazi has been held prisoner in Iran for nearly eight years, longer than any of the other current American detainees.

Once-coveted Air Jordans and Air Maxes are now sitting on shelves, with some retro Jordans selling below retail on the secondary market. "Air Max is Becoming Air Min," reads the headline of a report this week from Williams Trading analyst Sam Poser, who downgraded Nike's stock to sell. While numerous analysts remain bullish on Nike, Poser is among those who say Nike needs to ramp up innovation. At its 2017 investor day, Nike announced the Air Max 270. "Nike has lost many senior people throughout the entire company with, now necessary, historical institutional knowledge of Nike," Poser wrote.
Nike CEO John Donahoe said Tuesday that Disney CEO Bob Iger is "doing a great job." "I think Bob's doing a great job at this," Donahoe said of Iger. Donahoe's remarks are the latest chapter in a yearlong feud that started in early 2022 when then-Disney CEO Bob Chapek objected to the DeSantis administration's "Don't Say Gay" bill. Iger, who returned as Disney CEO in November, has continued to battle with DeSantis. Disney and Nike have long supported each other and shared connective tissue.
"When you get into higher interest rates ... you look to your collateral," Rodeheaver said in an interview. "We are tightening on price and profitability ... That is going to slow lending a bit." "The economy has started to slow in an orderly fashion" in response to higher interest rates, Jefferson said, calling tighter credit conditions "part of the transmission mechanism of monetary policy." Powell, however, said he felt the impact of the credit shock "remains uncertain," and his own baseline outlook does not include a recession. Bank lending dipped about 1.7% in the two weeks following SVB's collapse, but has risen since then and recouped about a third of the decline.
Investors sued Adidas over its failed Kanye West deal, arguing it didn't properly manage the risk. In the lawsuit, investors claimed Adidas "ignored serious issues" with regard to Ye's "extreme behavior," and didn't properly manage the resulting risks, including with inventory. If certified, the lawsuit would proceed on behalf of investors who purchased shares of Adidas between May 3, 2018, and February 21, 2023. In the wake of splitting with Ye, Adidas, under new CEO Bjørn Gulden, is focusing more on sports, including basketball and soccer, as Gulden works to reset the brand. The organization purchased 2,837 shares of Adidas stock in early 2022 for more than $350,000, according to an exhibit attached to the lawsuit.
Allbirds is one of the brands I'm looking at. TikTok is looking more and more like a record label. When TikTok launched SoundOn, a song-distribution and artist-services platform, some in the industry wondered whether it was trying to muscle its way into record labels' territory. TikTok is now looking to hire people who will "identify, sign, and develop new artists" as well as "design live show and merchandise strategies for artists globally." Get a front-row seat to TikTok's transformation into a record label here.

In 1977, Nike executive Rob Strasser typed a list of 10 company "principles." The raw and unfiltered list captures the irreverence and combativeness of early Nike employees. It was republished after the April 2023 release of "Air," a movie about how Nike signed Michael Jordan. The list, which captures the irreverence and competitiveness of early Nike employees, once again is making the rounds on social media. One of them: "Be on the offense, always," a direct nod at Strasser's list, and a phrase that remains a favorite of Nike executives.
Lululemon purchased Mirror in 2020 for $500 million. An analyst said selling Mirror could eliminate a "distraction" for Lululemon. While Lululemon's Mirror business has struggled, its overall business remains strong. "As previously announced, we are shifting the focus of Lululemon Studio from a hardware-centric offering to one that is also focused on digital app-based services going forward. At an investor day last year, Lululemon rolled out a new plan for Mirror, including the launch of Lululemon Studio, a membership plan for its Mirror device.
Transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney announced a partnership with Nike on Instragram this month. A Nike critic started a "burn bra challege" on TikTok last week. Last week, a TikTok user started a "burn bra challenge" and recorded herself lighting her Nike bra on fire, saying that Nike should be "ashamed of itself." "You chose a little boy with no breasts and some junk in his pants to represent real women," the TikTok user said, according to the New York Post. Nike has been criticized for several of its endorsement partners, including John McEnroe, Charles Barkley, Tonya Harding, and Colin Kaepernick.
Sneakers worn by Jordan in the 1998 NBA Finals just sold for $2.2 million. The sale set a new world record, topping the $1.8 million paid for a pair of Kanye West's sneakers. On Tuesday, Sotheby's announced the $2.2 million sale of Air Jordan 13 sneakers worn by Jordan during the 1998 NBA Finals. "That sneaker set the market for the sneaker industry. Rares CEO Sapp, who also played in the NFL, added Jordan sneakers tap into a bigger story that continues to resonate across playgrounds and pick-up basketball courts.
Nike "takes great pride as a leader in supporting female athletes," the company said. Goucher's book also describes a persistently sexist culture at the Nike Oregon Project and says that Alberto Salazar, a celebrated distance runner and former Nike coach, sexually assaulted her. "My story helped sell shoes, shorts, T-shirts, and bras," Goucher wrote of her time as a Nike-backed runner. "In 2018 we standardized our approach across all sports to support all of our female athletes during pregnancy," Nike said in the statement. We know that Nike can continue to play an elevated role in supporting female athletes and improving their experience in sports."
