Business Insider's creative team covered an array of projects this year. We brought our stories to life by incorporating animations, crafting bespoke multimedia experiences for our biggest stories, producing and commissioning hundreds of illustrations, and working with photographers around the globe. Our visuals captured a wide range of topics, from looking into illegal lockouts in major US cities to Ozempic Scams. We hired nearly 250 talented freelancers who helped bring our most compelling stories to life, producing over 1,500 pieces of custom art that enhanced our storytelling. Here are some of our favorite visual creations from 2024.

But for few has its pursuit been more complicated than for the elite career women Byars strives to help. AdvertisementWhen she finally felt ready to go back to corporate life, she looked for a more sustainable way to pursue professional success. The issue with high-achieving women, Byars says, is they focus on meeting only two of those needs — security (money) and esteem — while neglecting the rest. When the clients cry, it's mostly related to the need Byars says is the trickiest to meet: esteem. But if you're a woman with four kids and a senior-level corporate job, is there really any amount of mindset shifting you can do to avoid burnout?

In today's big story, we're looking at how there's no more loyalty in corporate America between employers and their workers. Business Insider's Aki Ito, who has covered workplace trends better than anyone, dove into the deterioration of loyalty in corporate America. The best example of the deterioration of loyalty in corporate America these days is in Big Tech. Three Reasons to Take Social Security Early

One financial planner says he has had clients claim Social Security early to fund long-term-care insurance. Illustration: Kiersten EssenpreisConventional wisdom holds that retirees are financially better off delaying their Social Security benefits to get a fatter payout. You can receive your full benefit once you reach full retirement age—around 66 or 67, depending on what year you were born. You can also start as early as 62, but that means a much smaller payout. The math is complex on how big the haircut is, but it can be roughly 30% annually for people who start at 62, versus waiting for full retirement age to receive full benefits.
